Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • NV Henri Giraud Champagne Esprit Nature 92 Points

    France, Champagne

It is always a pleasure to see this Champagne being offered by the glass as an aperitif. Comfortable and vinous but crisp and precise, citrus and orchard fruit, brioche and acacia, lovely intensity and length.

  • 2020 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

The poignant salinity on the nose leaves the origins of this wine in no doubt, but the broad and silky palate is less typical for the region - there is a ripeness to the orchard fruit and the acidity which I associate more with the Côte Beaune. The finish however is classic tight Chablis again. Approachable now, will age well.

  • NV Domaine Pacory Poiré Fermier 88 Points

    France, Normandy

Rustic nose, quite acidic on the palate, pear fruit and savoury notes, vibrant mousse, long and tart finish. Hardly subtle, but it has a primordial energy which I find attractive.

  • NV Henri Giraud Ratafia de Champagne Solera 90-16 91 Points

    France, Champagne, Ratafia de Champagne

Served by the glass from a 4.5 litre bottle. Pale golden colour with a hint of amber. Nuts and honey on the nose, medium sweet and fresh palate, silky and well balanced, golden grapes and candied fruit, nicely integrated alcohol, hint of apple on the sweet and salty finish. 91
