France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. All bright red with very good concentration for the vintage, persistent and weighty through to a long-ish finish. Lots more will emerge here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. Red and black cherry also with great weight and density, the wine is starting to shut down (some faint bitterness in the middle), but plenty still coming through on the powerful finish. I continue to be very excited about where this wine is going.
Walk around tasting. My first time tasting from this new domaine, and I was impressed. Slightly more red than black fruited with some faint meat and spice, the elegance of this Pommard is quite impressive, with finesse already emerging on finish. Not a powerhouse, not overly extracted, but this comes through with very good depth and a finish that goes longer than expected. Very cellarworthy, better 2024 forward, 92-93 point potential.
Walk around tasting. Ripe and fleshy start, then very tannic and firm middle-to-finish. Very powerful, there is enough substance to carry this through the time required to soften, better 2028 forward.
Walk around tasting. Slightly spiced red and black cherry, also very tannic, but also with lots here. Patience required, 90-91 point potential from 2028 forward.
Walk around tasting. Slightly more black than red but lots of fruit here than manages to stay in the forefront of the assertive tannins. Lots of concentration. Better from 2030 forward.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de Tart Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. Bright red cherry and berry on nose and palate. This is a lithe and precise weight with good weight and better length. Still a little more firmness middle-to-finish for now, so I think this is still a year or three away from its peak, but will then drink well for another couple of decades.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. Ripe red and black cherry with anise, black pepper and allspice. So balanced already, this goes on and on. Best vintage at this house since 2010.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. Richer for now than the 2019, but without the same density or balance. Precocious fruit with big structure. Better from 2030 forward. The only bad thing I can say about this wine is that it is not the 2019 tasted one minute earlier.
Walk around tasting. More red than black fruited with a Pommard mouth-coating textures, good enough weight with fruit just intense enough to hold up to the structure.
Walk around tasting. Lightly perfumed with black and red cherry that come across as ripe but easily balanced already. Starts out lighter, finishes strong and rich, while nicely textured.
Walk around tasting. Mostly black fruit showing a hint of hard candy for right now in the fashion of good, precocious young red Burgundy. Good weight and length, well supported with underlying structure. Cellar until at least 2028, 89-90 point potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. Very firm black fruit that seems slightly muted and awkward at this stage. Very Corton and very 2013, needs lots of cellar time to live up to its potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos de la Roche Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. A little sweet, a little tart, a little spicy, all in such charming juxtaposition. Structure stays just off-center in the near background. Good weight, very good now.
Walk around tasting. Slightly spiced red berry and cherry with good weight, wonderful harmony and balance. Very good now, in fact better today vs when last tasted in 2019.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Walk around tasting. Fun, balanced and elegant already with charming black cherry, somewhat medium weight for this generous vintage. Should drink well young, 2024 forward, 89-91 point potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. Red and black cherry with so much more going on as well. Meaty, layered and fun now, better 2027 forward. A great success in the vintage.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. Similar profile to the '20 1er, but larger and more integrated. Mostly red fruit here as well, ripe but balanced with good+ weight, length, and balance. This should drink well from as early as 2025, but has the substance to keep improving for at least another decade, 91-92 point potential.
