{Corton Clos des Corton tasting organized by JL at Black Cat}. Almost sexy nose, very attractive, delicious, very good length, can be drunk now (very unusual for this vineyard). I was quite surprised by how much I liked this wine!
Decanted at 3pm, served at ~ 7.30 pm

Reddish pale ,woody aromas and a hint of graphite reduction, black ripe cherry scents and soil, these aromas extend in the mouth. The toast is quite prominent at that stage, the coffee and burnt flavors tend to mask the fruit, the barrel lending its sweetness. There is however good sappy silkiness, tannins are soft but present, decent concentration of flavors but slightly short for grand cru, ending in a chalky, persistent and fresh finish. This is a soft vintage, and the extraction is well judged with soft tannins, so this could be drunk quite young. If you like oaky Burgundy, then go for it. However for my taste it is just too oaky for that soft vintage, and the oak masks the fruit. It is a pity because the wine has qualities, so let's see if Erwan Faiveley will make in the future some changes in the barrel program and make purer expressions of Corton.

Modern style. Dark fruit, meaty, some oak, good concentration. Good length. Give it much more time.

Musique & Vin Pre-Concert Dégustation (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Walk around tasting. Red and black cherry with so much more going on as well. Meaty, layered and fun now, better 2027 forward. A great success in the vintage.
