Another Querciabella tasting at Prince...the usual suspects from different vintages
2017 showed well today - finally coming together
2017 and 2000 (especially the latter)
2018 needs time, 2016 singing in a bolshy way
I do like the Batar but at the price of the best Chardonnay's in Australia it is a bit exe to compete. the older Camartina was very good. And I prefer the Classico to the reserve...regardless a lovely tasting
2019 Querciabella Chianti Classico
Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG
cherry, a little sweet spice, tiny touch of caramel and herby underpin plus a slightly jubey/candy floss note. Medium plus intensity acidity is juicy, cherry, light and slightly coarse tannins, smidge of non-intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish and a touch of greenness. Hmm compared to the 2017 but okay in isolation.

2017 Querciabella Chianti Classico
Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG
On the nose it's quite polished with ripe cherry, a little liquorice, sweet spice, slight white pepper and tobacco leaf notes. Clean. Juicy, fleshy, savoury, cherry, slightly drying persistent tannins travel long and the acid (which tends to Medium plus intensity) lends freshness to the finish. Balanced. Rather nice.

2018 Querciabella Chianti Classico Riserva
Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Chianti Classico DOCG
Medium minus intensity aromas of oak, cream red cherry, smells quite concentrated, dense, very slight alcohol prickle, cream, almost a little toast note. Juicy, tight drying tannins feel more wood than fruit driven lending caramel and a touch of cream. though the tannic weight is appropriate for the fruit the oaky flavours rather jar. Balanced by not for me.
