France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
A little more rustic than the Vosnes from this producer that I have tried but still had the signature elegance. Nice dark cherry fruit but quite tight at the moment.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Quite muscular with a spicy nose. Slightly rough tannins for a Vosne but very Jadot, which is to say that this is what I would expect from a producer that excels in Gevrey when making a Vosne.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
A slightly purple hue to the wine which I find common in many 2018/19s that look disturbingly like Syrahs. Made in an elegant style with good acidity but the alcohol was quite distracting on this compared to the other two wines.
Liked the 2016 McDougall the other week a lot but this was disappointing. The type of new-world nose that I dislike, jammy and cherry liquor notes. High alcohol but yet had a greenness to it and a bitter finish.
Lucky to have gotten the last pour of this. Quite an interesting flavour profile, this was a juxtaposition between a warm year and a cool climate. Blue yet cool fruit, a little dusty tannins and some tart acidity. Oak is a little obtrusive at the moment. Wouldn't buy this at the current price but glad to have tried it.
