Flight 1 (2 Notes)

  • 2019 Julien Renard Weissburgunder Trocken 91 Points

    Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

From a single plot, ten year old vines on Devonschiefer soils, gentle pressing of the whole bunches, short maceration, spontaneous fermentation, 14 months in new oak on the full lees, bottled unfiltered and without sulfur. Total SO2 14 mg/l, 10% ABV. Mildly funky, hint of pine, bone dry but with good stuffing, bruised yellow apple, noticeable oak, crisp acidity and firm bitters, palpable minerality on the finish, very good length. Unconventional, lots of tension and interest.

  • 2019 Domaine de la Pinte Arbois La Capitaine 91 Points

    France, Jura, Arbois

Certified organic and biodynamic viticulture. A blend of 50% Poulsard, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Trousseau grown on Marnes Rouges, hand harvested mid September, aged in old foudres, total SO2 30 mg/l, 13% ABV. Bright and fresh, lovely purity of fruit, light on its feet but with good flavour intensity, attractive hint of earth, slightly drying tannins.
