France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
Very good color and fill. Started out seeming charming and delicate, wholly enjoyable but a wine to enjoy within 15-20 minutes. Unmistakably old Burgundy with the spice of its terroir and a subtle maderization from its age. Yet this wine mostly held up, fading slowly, over 2+ hours in glass.
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Dexanted 20 minutes before serving, which brought some further nuance without sacrificing freshness. Dense, meaty and chewy, this was rich and fairly powerful, even if not the most complex old Bordeaux of all time. Best example of this wine I’ve ever tasted.
Engaging old No Rhône aromas with Marat, leather, olive tapenade, black pepper, all supporting enough black fruit holding its old. That fruit didn’t quite hold on as well on the palate, which was tasty and enjoyable, but lacking the substance the nose nearly implied. I liked this more than the others tonight.
Glass shared across our table after dinner. Charming and bright, this was nicely fresh and enjoyable, but seemingly lacking in botrytis and complexity. If served blind, I would have thought it younger and probably from Loire.
Glass shared across our table after dinner. Light and seemingly simple to start, but then it kind of slaps you in the face and makes you pay attention. Very enjoyable.

Lots of orchard fruit with faint peach hints and bright from start-to-finish, never tailing off. Good length. Very good now.
