Pale lemon with medium intensity on the nose with white peach, honey, waxiness, creamy, salty, pear, white blossom and minerality. Medium+ acidity, mouth coating with a medium finish with a bitter note. 100% Marsanne, 9 months sur lie in (used) barriques
This spent 2 hours in a decanter, but still it was hard to look beyond the oak. On the (medium+) nose mainly vanilla with butter, caramel, beewax, some tropical fruit and ripe melon. Acidity is medium- and the palate is a bit shallow, not in balance with the nose. Bitter medium finish. 85% Marsanne, 15% Roussanne from ~60 year old vines. Wine has spent 12 months on 30% new oak and 70% 1 year old oak
For me Condrieu is always a bit of a guilty pleasure; utterly enjoyable, but not a full bottle. This is a good example of a Condrieu with a pronounced intensity on the nose with flowers, peach, minerality, vanilla, apricot. Medium acidity and bitter note in the long finish
Medium purple with medium+ intensity on the nose. Coffee, maggi, some lactic notes, black fruit, ham/cheese chips. On the palate black currant juice. Medium+ acidity, medium tannins with a medium finish. 100% destemmed, 12 months in old barriques
Sligthly disappointed, 2 bottles in the cellar to see how they will age
Pretty juicy; deep cherries, black fruit (black berry, black currant), black pepper, some barnyard. Medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, long finish. 90+ for now, will be much better in 3-5 years
Partly destemmed. From young vines within the AOC St Joseph and old vines from outside. 13-15 months in demi-muds
Gorgeous St Joseph with a great combination of primary, secondary and tertiary aroma’s. Medium+ aroma intensity with black fruit, even some red berries, cherry, sous bois, leather, bacon, licorice, smokiness. Medium+ acidity, medium+ but finely integrated tannins, long finish. 92-93, great wine
Great potential, but quite restrained today, probably too little air. Cherry, black berry, black currant, bacon notes, black olives, licorice. With more time in the glass the aroma’s changed to more velvety black cherry and black fruit, clove. Medium acidity, medium+ tannins, long finish. Needs at least another 5 years based on tonights showing. 91++
Much more fruit driven than the 2017, guess this vintage will age better. Black berry, black currant, bacon, black cherry, olives. Medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, long finish. 92+
On the nose black currant, black berry, bacon notes, olives, barnyard, even a hint of manure. On the palate juicy cherries, medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins. Destemmed, 14 months in barriques and 550 liter foudre, 25% new
This was truly special, the clear WOTN. The wine kept developing in the glass and become more interesting and interesting. Velvety black cherry, maggi, spices, licorice, black currant, black berry, black olives, bacon, wet stone, graphite, crushed black pepper. Medium acidity, medium+ tannins, very long finish. 93+
100% whole cluster, 22 months in barrique, 25% new
