Blind. Screams DP with its flinty, smoky reductive nose. Young and fresh. Focused and linear. Some hint of nascent weight around the edges. It’s all there. ***(*)
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Blind. Puligny elegance, but some serious weight here. Pale straw with a fleck of green. Elegant with some richness. Opens to a broader vanilla note. Warming up highlights its youth, but there’s a lot of wine here and it’s very good. ****1/2
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Blind. Similar colour and style to its sibling.initially a little more cut and maybe a bit more mid palate grip as it opens. Broader with air. Eventually not quite the line and shape. ****
Blind. Bright mid ruby. Classic Bordeaux left bank nose. Playing the man it’s Leoville but the glass says 90 or 89, so 88 is quite the revelation. By far the best bottle of this I’ve had — sexy for Barton and off the charts for the vintage. The richest and sexiest 88 I can remember. Just gorgeous. *****
Blind. Blackcurrant and blackberry fruit. Depth and density, ripe but balanced. Real density without anything being overdone. Really very serious. Only just opening, but huge depth. Gosh. *****
Mellow, bright red fruit, mature leather, fireside spice, a pinch of orange zest. Everything as it should be. Super. Refreshingly. Just a hint of coffee across the top. *****
Fresh. Some lift and development. Lots here. Stemines. Pinot typicity.,drier and more DP savoury on the palate, but there’s good material, here in an attractive package. ****

BTG. Pale straw. Surprisingly rich and rounded on the attack. Bright and fresh on the finish.***
