Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • 2021 Giuseppe Rinaldi Dolcetto d'Alba 89 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba

Redcurrant, some chocolate and smoke on the nose. Palate is a nice mix of herbs notes along with the red fruit flavours. Has a bit more stuffing next to the 21 Burlotto Dolcetto but still feels nicely lithe and has the structure to age well over the next 4-5 years.

  • 2021 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Dolcetto d'Alba 86 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba

Open for a couple of days. Nicely perfumed - roses, cherry, and graphite. Palate is rather light depth wise and doesn't carry the same lift as the nose, there is some acid crunch to it though it sticks out with the lightness of the fruit. Not convinced tonight.

  • 2021 Comm. G.B. Burlotto Barbera d'Alba 88 Points

    Italy, Piedmont, Alba, Barbera d'Alba

Boysenberry, red cherry, a mid smoky note and rose. Softly structured and has light sweet fruit but with enough acidity to gently push things across the palate. Drinking well now, simple but not pretending to be more than it is.

  • 2021 Joshua Cooper Cabernet Sauvignon Pressings Balgownie Vineyard 1970 Block 92 Points

    Australia, Victoria, Central Victoria, Bendigo

Cranberry, blackberry, pepper and a savoury herbal note underpinning the nose. The palate is bright and fresh but continues that savoury twist and holds plenty of interest as a result. Long, and quite superb balance without a note out of place. Didn't expect this to be quite so good but it really impressed.
