Glass: Sophienwald Universal
Good German Sekt. Slightly oxidative nose, dry, creamy, quite mineral, dense, high acidity, still a bit yeasty, medium length. Compared to the Cristal I need to lower my score for it. 90-91

Popped and poured. Fine, complex and fruity nose. Very precise, elegant and balanced, juicy, fine fruit, lemon, medium perlage. Long, fine finish. Very approachable right now. Beautiful! 93-94+

Clear, pale golden color. Fine, airy nose. Very mineral, some noticeable residual sugar, playful, round, creamy and balanced. Good length. Will probably benefit from ageing. 90+

Drunk multiple times over 6h. Clear, medium golden color. Very deep and dense nose, beautiful.
On the palate with enormous tension, power without being fat, high, racy acidity. Very elegant and balanced, wonderful salty core. Complex and long. Got better and better over time, not yet fully there, needs 5+ years to fully shine. Awesome wine in the making. 94+++

Drunk over 6h. Worthy counterpart to the CSH. Same wonderful structure and weightless power. Still a bit shy and less expressive. But if you listen, you can feel this truly great wine. Fine salty mineral notes, a bit dark, beautiful texture, elegance, wonderful balance and a very long and fine finish. Give it 5+ years to fully shine. Probably a bit less potential than the CSH, but this will be an amazing flight in 5+ years. 94++

Clear pale golden color. Typical Halenberg nose, smoky, deep and dense. On the palate very fresh, smoky, mineral, balanced, beautful depth and density, long, fruity & smoky finish. Not yet at its full peak. 93+

Clearly Schäfer-Fröhlich nose, some sponti. A bit leaner than the Halenberg with more tension and energy. Cool, lots of mineral notes, precise, herbaceous. Elegant and very long. Still upscale potential. 94+

One of my surprises this evening. Showed beautifully. Expressive, complex nose. On the palate very lean and precise with a wonderful fruit, depth and minerality. Lots of fresh herbs. Very joyful to drink. Long, lingering finish. En par with the other top wines today. 94

Another beautiful example that Wachau does not need to be hot and overripe. Very round, quite elegant, harmonious, some zesty notes, lots of chalky mineral, medium acidity, long. Beautiful wine. 93

Changed the flight order to have the two baroque wines with the main course. Very bold and sweet nose. Same on the palate: bold, lots of extract, phenolic, sweet, dense and deep. Good length. Needs probably a decade more to blend in all its components. 91-92+

WTMF! Next Unendlich that is not performing according to its price point. Certainly a very good Riesling, but cannot keep up with the very best. Lots of band aid in nose and palate, medium acidity, ripe, warm fruit, a bit hot. Medium length. "Never ending?" Hahahaaa... Someone tried to "built a great Riesling" and failed miserably... 90

Clear, medium golden color. A bit muted nose with some pear and pineapple. On the palate beautiful tension, very mineral, sweet pineapple. Creamy, balanced and expressive. Very good length. Still upscale potential. Possibly a better rating if not drunk next to Wittmann's Kirchspiel... 93-94+

Clear, pale golden color. Beautiful deep and smoky nose, more expressive than Keller's version.
On the palate more pressure, energy and tension than Keller. A bit grapefruit, fine vanilla, smoke. Very mineral, very long. Close to greatness. 94-95

Bad luck that we drunk the Dellchen next to its bigger brother. Beautiful wine that would even more shine, if drunk alone. Fine, elegant nose. On the palate also very round and balanced, very mineral, lots of ripe fruit and zests. Long lingering finish. 92-93

What.A.Wine! Clear, pale yellow color. Incredible deep and dense nose, fruity, mineral, herbaceous. Super complex and intense.
On the palate it combines the energy of the CSH, Wittmanns Kirchspiel with lots of sweet ripe fruit and a lovely smokiness. Enormous energy, tension and pressure. Very, very long (take this damn "Unendlich"...). 96+

Same fate as the Dellchen... Solitair it probably would gained a better rating, but compared to the Schlossberg it was a bit lost.
Beautiful classic Nonnenberg/Rheingau nose. Very lean, smoky, dark and precise. High acidity, good balance, beautiful structure. Long. Still a teen with great potential. 93++

Clear pale golden color. Beautiful deep and smoky nose, some tobacco leaves, lime, mineral, great perfume.
On the palate lean, precise, high acidity, beautiful tension. Smoky, some ripe lime, very juicy. Wonderful balance and energy. Very long finish. Today on the same level as the Hermannshöhle, probably a bit less energy, but who cares. Still upscale potential. 96+

If it is a bit deeper in color, lots of natural and oxidized notes and when I am a little bit lost whether I like it or not, it is usually PJK...
Serious wine, certainly very good, great structure and all, but I don't get it. Potential? IMHO none! 92-93

Amazing, how deep and energetic a dry Riesling with only 11% abv can be. Lean, tart, precise, good tension and energy, very mineral. Very good. 92

Quite consistent with my previous notes. Very, very good, mineral, great energy and tension, but for me not yet fully there. There was an intense discussion whether the 13 AbtsE is not yet there or already declining... I hope for the first. Tonight clearly beaten by Wittmanns Brunnenhäushcen 93-94+

Wow. Beautiful nose, very dense, mineral and with lots of ripe stone fruit. Complex and multi-layered.
Very precise and lean. Liquid stone! Wonderful tension and energy mixed with some grapefruit. Long, energetic finish. 94-95. Tonight clearly the better wine.

I had such a high hope for this wine. Botte and cork was perfect, but the content was not what it should be.... Advanced color, very ripe on the palate. Premox? Don't know. No Rating.

Not as good and energetic as I hoped. Still a very good wine. Sea breeze, ripe fruit, very mineral, some cotton candy, very round and mild, medium+ finish. 91-92

Beautiful Spätlese, but it lacks the vibrant energy and tension of its dry Brother. Very round, balanced and juicy. Drinks nicely. Medium+ finish.

Wonderful Auslese. Even though a gold capsule, the botrytis is not dominating. Great pressure and tension, weightless power. Super complex and super long. Wonderful wine. Potential for the next two decades.

Tasted blind. Very dense, young and fresh. More body than Mosel Kabinett, very good balance and harmony. Will gain more complexity with time. 92++
