Table & Vine
Tasted Monday, June 16, 2008 by mdefreitas with 450 views
Four flights of 3 blind wines were presented. Each flight was of a (mainly) single varietal. One wine was under $10, one was under $20 and the other was over $20.
The cheapest wine was preferred.
The mid priced wine was preferred. The little penguin is evil.

The mid priced wine was preferred. There are a lot of mediocre Cabs out in California.
In general, nothing that really rocked me. But, as expected, price is not an indicator of quality.
2006 Estancia Chardonnay 89 Points
USA, California, Central Coast, Monterey County
Smells of honeysuckle, lemons and custard. Not too heavy. Medium acids, medium oak. Some apples and pineapples. Middle of the road, but inoffensive. $8.99.

2005 Rutz Cellars Chardonnay Russian River Cuvée 87 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County
A bit of a candied, artificial fruit nose. Noticable oak spice on the finish. Creamy with a bitter finish. $12.99.

2005 Chalk Hill Chardonnay Estate Bottled Chalk Hill 88 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Chalk Hill
Nice ripe peachy flavors. Lower in apparent oak than the other wines in the flight. Some lemons chime in with a nice crispness. Some roundness on the palate, but not too thick. $39.99.
