By the glass to begin our dinner at La Fleur de Pave, Paris. Firm , bright, nice soft toasty , soft rich feel, focused and could well work as an aperitif but also with a few medium rich starters. Very pretty and a very good surprise in a way.90-91
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
By the glass at La Fleur de Pave, Paris ( freshly opened as it was part of their wine pairing ). Very good, classic beauty of Puligny-Montrachet , firm, mineral, cool feel and stone fruit blend well with good level of oak. Still has some puppy fat oak to assimilate but this just works and is beautiful now and with a pretty long life ahead. Solid 92
This jumped out of the list at La Fleur de Pave, Paris. Having tried the arbitrage of a price/quality you get sibling of this the Ch Ampuis 2012 and consistently love it ( Papies consistently 92-93) this was an easy choice. Decanted for a good 30 minutes , helpful for sure and can handle a lot more. A beautiful wine and albeit at the start of its drinking window it is still ever so elegant and beautiful wine. Good rich fruit but in balance, soft spice , soft smoky edge . So good and so classy. Beautiful wine and we bought 6 bottles just while at the dinner table. This says it all. 94 for now but with a lot more potential for the future and longevity.
By the glass to finish our dinner at La Fleur de Pave , Paris. Punchy , decent level of alcohol, nutty edge, touch of Madeira at times. Pretty but we are more for sweeter finishes than this. 88-90
