Funky profile - cloves, meaty brett, herbal undergrowth and graphite. Flavour dips a bit into the metallic brett zone which flattens the rest of the palate. Not really a lot of enjoyment on this bottle unfortunately.

Tobacco and cedar, blackberry with a touch of a herbal note in the background. Palate is nicely structured, has mid-weight savoury fruit with a nicely fresh acid profile. Good!

Smoky cherry, raspberry, violets and redcurrant. Palate is quite finely balanced, nice fresh acidity to go with a red fruit tinged outer core. Mid length and depth, really nice drinking.

Blackcurrant, licorice, blackberry - quite dense dessicated fruit on the nose. Palate is sweet and round, it doesn't assert too much structure and it's pretty easy to drink.

Blind. Melon, florals, spice, lemon cream and light herbs. Palate carries a bit of that herbal bent as well but the fruit profile is nicely rounded with those elements playing well together, Good composure and decent length. Super value prop when identified.

Blind. Lime, apple, white florals and also a bit of a smoky herbal note here. A lot more lean on the palate, nice control and flow. Well balanced. Light on its feet and approachable. Well made wine and slightly preferred to the Wickhams Road Chard, though when the identities were revealed, there is a big price gap in favour of the Wickham.

Blind. Brightly coloured with purple edges. Blackcurrant, touch of manure and a herbal aromatic profile. Plenty of high pitched acidity on the palate and that herbal flavour is quite prominent. I don't especially like it, it's a bit janky at the moment though it may come around with time?

Blind. Another deep colour here. Smoke, tobacco, blackberries and some licorice. Alcohol stands out a bit on the nose and palate. Palate does have good fruit density but it's mono dimensional and the alcohol distracts.

Blind. Blackberry, redcurrant, black cherry and spice. Palate is really nicely balanced and composed, with some dimension that makes me think this might be a blend (narrator: it was). My clear favourite of the reds tonight.

Oats, lemon peel, smoke and some peaches. Nicely rich mouthfeel, shows off the fruit power but has enough structure to keep it held together. Flows well as a result and I think for fans of the richer style this would impress quite a bit.

Kerosene, lemon, vanilla and toast on the nose. Palate continues a similar profile with plenty of toast and kero flavours to go with a prickly acid line. Feels a little disjointed and fairly short. Drink now I think as the kero will take over and I somewhat doubt the acid will come back into focus.

Apple, caramel and lime on the nose. Palate tends to bit a little rounded out, with the fruit feeling a bit mono dimensional. Okay length - not bad but just a bit boring overall.

Smoky, lemon and straw on the nose. Palate has some bright fruit woven into a vibrant acid backing. It's tasty though simple, I liked it for drinking now.

Orange peel, nutty, lemon and smoky reductive notes on the nose. Energetic palate, plenty of lift and acid drive to go with intense savoury fruit. Lots of texture, interest and character.

Apple, pear, almond and some smoky notes on the nose. Palate has some roundness at the start but it's just punchy and crunchy acid through the mid palate with a bit of grip as well. A bit less composed versus the Varrons.
