Stood up for weeks, decanted off 2oz fine sediment. Light-medium ruby with significant bricking as expected for nebbiolo at this age; moderately aromatic, black cherry, tamari, maybe slight vanilla?; palate is medium bodied, black cherry, high acidity throughout, a bit oxidative when first out of the bottle; medium length finish, slightly tart. Good balance, but nothing special yet. Perhaps with some air? 90 for now. Definitely opened up with a few hours of double decanting, but still overall darker and richer than I expected for Barolo. Day 2: Still richer-styled, but well balanced. 90-91
100% Pinot noir. Wonderfully aromatic nose with a hint of strawberry, lemon-lime, still with good richness as well, well balanced; long finish. This is excellent champagne. 92+ Even better at the end of dinner. Superb balance, exceptional champagne. 93
Light ruby, age appropriate bricking; aromatic, red fruited, slight tar and roses; palate is light bodied, tannins still youthful, red cherry fruit, not yet at maturity; finish is medium-plus. 92
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Medium ruby-purple; high intensity aromatics, plum fruit, intense minerality and graphite, smoky; palate is medium bodied, consistent smokiness, medium-plus acidity, balanced alcohol; medium length finish. 90-91 Well made wine. Maybe a Spanish wine, like Mencia? Surprisingly a burgundy! Really nice for the price. On retaste after unblinding, this was an excellent Pinot/burgundy. Sappiness and vibrancy combo is truly a joy, and this shows a ton of strawberry/red fruit. 91
Light ruby, slight bricking; high intensity aromatics, red cherry, roses, violets; palate is light bodied, high tannin, high acid, balanced alcohol (14%); long finish. This is a spectacular Barbaresco. 94-95
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Aromatic, a bit ripe, red fruited, some garrigue spice; palate is medium bodied, medium alcohol, some remaining fruit, not showing the complexity of the best chateauneuf but good balance; medium length finish. 89
