Dinner with the wine group (Sole Ristorante, San Mateo): Stood up for weeks, decanted off 2oz fine sediment. Light-medium ruby with significant bricking as expected for nebbiolo at this age; moderately aromatic, black cherry, tamari, maybe slight vanilla?; palate is medium bodied, black cherry, high acidity throughout, a bit oxidative when first out of the bottle; medium length finish, slightly tart. Good balance, but nothing special yet. Perhaps with some air? 90 for now. Definitely opened up with a few hours of double decanting, but still overall darker and richer than I expected for Barolo. Day 2: Still richer-styled, but well balanced. 90-91

90 minute decant. About a teaspoon of sediment. Color very strong and only the earliest signs of bricking. Lovely black cherry fruit, some dried herbs, faint touch of Oak. Very smooth, approaching silky. This bottle would have been great for then next 5 years.

Drank this at a wine dinner amongst many excellent wines, and this held its own quite nicely. Flavors are maturing but still backed by firm tannin and acidity. Probably not a vintage for extreme aging, but drinking quite well now.

Another excellent bottle of this. Beautifully layered, deep and complex, with nice freshness and overall balance. I love it.

Very mature, brick red , soft tannins, classical tar and roses, long finish. An aristocratic wine
