The oak is quite spicy but the wine flows well across the palate, fragrant and generous, chalky tannins, very good resonance and length.

Quite firm and structured, everything seems to be in the right place, needs time. Will probably gain another point.

Beautiful crisp Cabernet fruit, firmer tannins and less ethereal elegance than Clerc Milon, true to type, clean and pure, very good length.

Slightly farmyardy, a bit dull perhaps in the context of the vintage, not as radiant as the best, slightly raw finish.

Energetic and ripe, lots of interest here, peach and tropical fruits, just visible oak, minerality and crisp acidity, convincing finish. Top notch.

Crisp, fresh, no lack of generosity, slightly dull aromatically, raw edge on the finish.

Succulent fruit in a slender frame, solid rather than very exciting, slightly monolithic finish.

2021 Château Valandraud 92 Points
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Generous and sexy and spicy as always, but the oak seems to dominate, and the tannins are a bit green. Has it been pushed too far?
