Introduction
Our group met for some killer Thai food at Ching Mai Thai, and to cool the fire, some very well made Rieslings (and a few sparklers to boot). It was another fabulous offline set up by Craig V and the impeccable tasting order was set up by Brad B. There really was not a bad wine in the line up, but for me the headliner of the night was the amazing cuisine of Ching Mai Thai.
2005 Domaine Carneros Brut 89 Points

Nose: Some light toast. Palate: The light toast coming through. Crisp and clean. Good value sparkler.

NV Perrier-Jouët Champagne Grand Brut 90 Points
France, Champagne
Nose: Very nice and pronounced almond aromas. Palate: Clean and balanced with some nice earthy flavors. Rustic with a solid finish. Drinks like a higher priced Champagne. Great value.

Nose: Bright sweet floral aromas. Palate: An almost perfumy sweetness of fruit. Pleasant wine.

Nose: Subtle minerals. Palate: Good acid profile. Very precise, linear and well crafted. Good finish.

True to the '06' vintage this was much more off-dry than the '04'. Both the Donnhoff Kabs are very clean, well made wines.

Nose: Sweet, floral nose. Palate: As others have noted very off-dry for an '04' Kab. Apple and pear flavors.

Raisony aromas and flavors (but less so then the Karlsmuhle). Very lengthy finish. Nice and one of my favorites of the night.

2005 Weingut Karlsmühle Lorenzhöfer Riesling Spätlese 92 Points

Nose: Deep raisony aromas and some brown sugar. Palate: Big raison flavors present on the palate. Very lengthy and weighty finish. Much like the Muller-Catoir HB Spat, but significantly amped up. Interesting wine.
