New World in style. My first Marcassin experience.
    Bravo.

  • 2001 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie

First La Turque. Gorgeous streamlined spicy raspberries and dark cherries.
Heady and voluptuous. High acidity with firm tannin structure.
A distinct flavor of star anise is interwoven in the dark fruit and roasted and expansive espresso bean driven finish.
Fantastic bottling. If I could afford it, I would purchase an '01 to put away for ten or more years.

  • 2007 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Juicy fruit driven Crau. New World in style. Candied red berries with a perfume of rose petals.
Some nice expressive components with an approachable palate for a wine this young.
This was reminiscnet of a cultish New World Syrah or even Cabernet. I don't feel it was overly spicy.
It had nice white pepper components but the floral bouquet was what made me come back to this bottling.
    Excellent.

  • 1990 Château Lynch-Bages 96 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

Deep dark royal purple color. Completely opaque black at the center.
Enormously aromatic. Funky and terroir driven displaying neatly wound leather and menthol aromas.
Black truffles, balsamic glaze and some dark tomato soup mixed with blackberry liqueur.
Barnyard flavors mixed with hay and dark blackberry pancake syrup.
Yummy and delicious. Drinking very well at this age. One of my favorite Lynch-Bages of all time.
An excellent showing in a world class vintage.
    Cheers!

  • 2003 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée da Capo 97 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

My favorite Rhone wine to date.
It was an honor to sample a glass of this wonderful juice.
Sexy and hedonistic. Capo was a malange of aromas.
Dark sweet berries, shrooms, char-grilled meat, vanilla, mocha and dark purple flowers.
The palate shows lovely baking spice with some dark earl gray tea components - very enjoyable.
It took me at least five minutes of enjoying the aroma before I took my first sip.
This was one of the best expressions of "sex in a glass" that I've ever put to my lips.
One of my favorite Old World wines of all time. I would love to see this in fifteen or twenty years.
I cannot think of enough descriptors for everything that was leaping out of the glass.
This elixir was overwhelming, elegant, yet a full throttlle bottling topping just above 15.5% alcohol - though it was barely evident.
Once again I must humbly say...thank you Keith.

Lovely Alban juice every time I have the privledge to try some.
Chocolatey, and incredibly expansive on the palate.
Finish goes on for over a minute. Gorgeous stuff.
Huge alcohol content yet coming across silky smooth on the palate.
    Round opulent and richly textured.
Try my bottle in the next five to seven if I can wait that long.

No rough corners whatsover. An all around great bottling showing impressive depth.
Layered fruit lead to a full bodied though well integrated finish.
