My first offline, and first time meeting the Wine Fanatic's - Bill, Blair, Devon, David and Nadine. The following wines were tasted blind, with a fantastic food pairing from a local Vancouver restaurant:
1997 Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
Tasty and refreshing with a nice initial bite, but finished a bit short. Notes of honey, caramel and citrus with some minerality.

A lively, balanced wine with rich melon, peaches, red apples and grass with a touch of oak.

1983 Château Lynch-Bages
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Tasty mature bordeaux. Awesome bouquet of barnyard, black currents, smoke, and black olives. A touch lean, and it began to fade after a short time in the glass.

1985 Château Lynch-Bages
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Fantastic nose of peppers and musty leather. Medium bodied, delicate and opulent.

2002 Château Lynch-Bages
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
A completely different animal than the '83 and '85 LB's tasted previous. Herbaceous and a bit sweet with notes of candy and burnt sugar that blew off over time. Seemed a little disjointed. It became port-like as it opened up in the glass.

1999 Château Pavie
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Mmm, now we're talking! Smooth, silky texture and full-bodied. Dark fruits, graphite and smoke. My WOTN.

2000 Château Léoville Poyferré
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Double decanted 2 hours before arriving. Classic bordeaux nose. Rich, dark fruits and tannic, but nicely balanced. I found it a tad hollow, but hopefully will fill out with more time.

1986 Château Talbot
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Smelled and tasted like a mature Northern Rhone. A medium weight wine with dark cherries, tar, earthy notes, and sweet tannins.

1999 Château d'Yquem
France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
Fresh and elegant with nice acidity. Oily texture with honeysuckle and tropical fruits. Also some subtle lavender and burnt tire. Delicious stuff.
