The nose is spicy and mineral, with notes of cinnamon, ginger, salmiak and granite dust. It also offers totally charming aromas of red/black cherry, currant and raspberry, with hints of sweet kirsch. The taste is transparent, yet intense and focused, with dry juicy fruit, fresh acidity, firm mineral grip, outstanding tension, sustain and length. We had the three latest Lapierre vintages a few days ago - this is actually better than their '11 and equal at least to their '10. To our tastes, this is a virtually perfect cru beaujolais - and a stunning wine!

Nose totally closed down. The alcohol level (~16.5% according to Parker) added an unpleasant heat to the palette. The palette was not as closed down as the nose though. Tanins are tough.

Will put remaining bottles deep into the cellar and hope that the balance will improve...
