Made from a blend of three of their vineyards, Lago, Granchio and Spuntali.
Aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 24 months and 12 months in concrete. Medium+ ruby colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of cherries, violets, tobacco, rosehip, chocolate, black olives, orange peel hints. Medium+ body, taut and tart, youthful, juicy fresh red fruit flavours with smoky and roasted touches, firm structure, fleshy high tannins.

Cork was dry and extremely difficult to pull. Wine was not damaged or tainted. Deep garnet hue with lots of bricking on the rim. Nose of candied raspberries and a bit of heat. This wine has become somewhat disjointed with age. ETOH is unfortunately the dominant factor knocking it way out of balance. Red fruits are still apparent but the alcohol dominates. Probably was at its zenith six or seven years ago. Drink up.

Wifey and I find this wine to be so enjoyable, smooth, elegant, floral, fruity, touch of leather with crisp acidity. Love it.

As the current release, I know it probably had years to go. That said, 2019 is a great vintage, and I was pleased with the fruit, persistence of flavors, and the smooth finish.

Elegant; clearly a good quality wine from a solid house in a strong vintage. First taste with no breathing time. Fresh red and blue fruit. Let’s see what some oxygen time will do.

3 hrs decant. Sweet and jammy. All about fruit. Marmalade, but with some tannin grip. Nice.

Chris’s 12 brunello is a bit more elegant

A pedestrian wine - tasted a bit flat with age. Good for basic food pairing - cooking wine if not finished soon

Full bodied and better on day 2 where the tannins and fruit became more integrated. Needs a good decant. Full bodied

at the very beginning of its drinking window, still somehow not well integrated, apparently needs some air but doesn't help that much. Give it its time. Paired with a nice T Bone steak with Giorgio, Giulia, Marco and Anna hoping for the best. Unfortunately it was the last day I met Giorgio. RIP

Italian Wines (Walnut Creek, Ca.): Good fruit, nose with lots of overtones of stinky rubber, rich, tasty, oily taste in the mouth.

Entirely underwhelming. No nose, no body, weak but drying finish…overall quite anaemic, almost watery, a little astringent. I don’t believe that after 10 years this should be in a shut down phase but there was just nothing there. Then the pappardelle al cinghiale arrived and it seemed to tuck in beneath (very much beneath) those flavours relatively well. IF you are going to get a bottle - I wouldn’t - it probably has to be deployed as a sort of bag carrier to a hearty pasta and sugo. At €25 from Signorvino in Florence (on offer) I’d say sort of ok value but I expect countless other wines should be chosen before this.

240209: very nicely balanced with a long finish. Medium body. Bity tannins which smoothens with aerienation. Recomend 1-2 h of air after decanting. Good wine.

Just a touch of cinnamon, baking spice. Maybe there used to be cherries. No, I guess there are cherries still now. A hint of balsamic. Some earth/clay, particularly in the empty glass. In fact, one of the indications of this wine's pedigree is just how aromatic and appealing the empty glass is for many minutes after the wine is gone.

On the plate, bone dry, sour, intense, just as it should be. Medium-weight, balanced. Well made, for sure. I like it a lot, but it is eye-wateringly expensive. I'm not well-calibrated on Tuscan price-performance, but: I'd be very happy with this at $50, OK at $65, but I am mildly skeptical at the $80 I paid for it. I don't doubt that it has a fairly decent life ahead of it, though, despite the fruit having pulled back quite a bit already.

This was quite good, but needed time to open up. We decanted 6 hours before our first sip, and it was still fairly reticent. It really bloomed after the 8th hour of being decanted.

Poured into an Amadeo decanter about 30min prior to service. The 2018 Val di Suga BdM “classico” is a combination of fruits sourced from the estates three vineyards: Vigna del Lago; Vigna Spuntali and Poggio al Granchio. The wine pours a deep ruby with a near opaque, transparent core and a watery rim. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, teh wine is developing with morello cherry, carnations, dusty earth, orange pith and leather. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and drying. This was my second time drinking the classico and I’m quite keen to try some of the single vineyard expressions in the future. Drink now with a short decant or through 2033
