5/20/2024 - Bodyfxr wrote: 88 pointsCork was dry and extremely difficult to pull. Wine was not damaged or tainted. Deep garnet hue with lots of bricking on the rim. Nose of candied raspberries and a bit of heat. This wine has become somewhat disjointed with age. ETOH is unfortunately the dominant factor knocking it way out of balance. Red fruits are still apparent but the alcohol dominates. Probably was at its zenith six or seven years ago. Drink up. |

Paired with a nice T Bone steak with Giorgio, Giulia, Marco and Anna hoping for the best. Unfortunately it was the last day I met Giorgio. RIP |

2/18/2024 - Andrew S-L wrote: 85 pointsEntirely underwhelming. No nose, no body, weak but drying finish…overall quite anaemic, almost watery, a little astringent. I don’t believe that after 10 years this should be in a shut down phase but there was just nothing there. Then the pappardelle al cinghiale arrived and it seemed to tuck in beneath (very much beneath) those flavours relatively well. IF you are going to get a bottle - I wouldn’t - it probably has to be deployed as a sort of bag carrier to a hearty pasta and sugo. At €25 from Signorvino in Florence (on offer) I’d say sort of ok value but I expect countless other wines should be chosen before this. |

1/13/2024 - alpha_ori Likes this wine: 92 pointsJust a touch of cinnamon, baking spice. Maybe there used to be cherries. No, I guess there are cherries still now. A hint of balsamic. Some earth/clay, particularly in the empty glass. In fact, one of the indications of this wine's pedigree is just how aromatic and appealing the empty glass is for many minutes after the wine is gone. |

12/21/2023 - thesternowl wrote: 91 pointsPoured into an Amadeo decanter about 30min prior to service. The 2018 Val di Suga BdM “classico” is a combination of fruits sourced from the estates three vineyards: Vigna del Lago; Vigna Spuntali and Poggio al Granchio. The wine pours a deep ruby with a near opaque, transparent core and a watery rim. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, teh wine is developing with morello cherry, carnations, dusty earth, orange pith and leather. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and drying. This was my second time drinking the classico and I’m quite keen to try some of the single vineyard expressions in the future. Drink now with a short decant or through 2033 |
