1/21/2020 - fingers Likes this wine: 88 pointsFound this bottle at the back of a friend’s pantry and I volunteered ;) to examine it. Cork was intact, saturated about half way but not too bad for 14 yrs of passive storage. The color is quite tawny at the rim with a brown core and very fine sediment. Mild bouquet of flowers, tobacco, spice, and a bit of acetate that blew off and disappeared after 15 minutes open. The palate is still mostly intact, the fruit fading of course, but this modest little song from the Cali Coast still has something to say. Still drinking well at the 4 hour open mark. A properly stored bottle should be a pleasure to drink. 4+10+17+7= 88 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (2) |

Arrived today and couldn't wait, popped and poured immediately. Very dark in the glass and seemed a little closed at first. Not a big suprise though, due to my impatience. 07 Maybach arrived as well today, but won't be drinking that one any time soon....Anyways, after about 20 minutes it opened up very nicely and my wife and I enjoyed it. Fruit bomb, but thats my kind of wine. For $16 a bottle, will definately get more. Think I'll finish the night with a H Upmann Corona Major from a Oct/08 box... 1 person found this helpful, do you? The Sum is fiery and disjointed as I got distinct flavors of green pepper, tobacco, oak, fruit, all coming at various stages. Fruity on the front end, good medium body. High alcohol smell/flavor and a strong tartness and green cedar at the end was a bit off putting and wear off the palate. The Sum may have the potential to get better with a little cellar time as hints of quality grapes prevail, but I'll be passing on this one. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

Enjoyable, balanced, and an excellent accompaniment to, of all things, grilled shrimp over arugula. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

Medium to full body nice smooth tannins and acidity, average legs, bright spicy finish. Typical Oakville, Rutherford style without the Rutherford dust. Great price point and will stock up on this one. |

Sweet dark fruits and subtle spice with some acidic greenness giving some shape to the wine. Tannins clamp down on the moderate finish. Still a bit young but certainly tastey. |

First bottle was a bit unbalanced and very oak driven; probably 85 points in my book. Second bottle showed more structure and balance. Still very oak influenced. Nice dark fruit with layers of vanilla and and some tobacco. Overall this is a solid wine for the price. I recommend. |

3/6/2010 - Coupe 60 wrote: 86 pointsA blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Syrah, and 10% Petite Sirah. Parker raved and gave this a 90. Popped and then decanted at Greg Norman's steak house, then consumed over the next 90 minutes with a NY Strip. Honestly this wine was a bit of a disappointment. I did not get any of the hedonistic pleasure that Parker did, very little on the nose, I got some thick black fruit on the palate that did not have a freshness to it. There was a syrupy component to it. Maybe a hint of some black pepper at the end (from the syrah maybe?) Mouthfeel was ok...full bodied wine. There was nothing wrong with this wine, but nothing great either. None of my dinner companions particularly enjoyed it either. Maybe I got an off bottle. would drink again if offered, but would not buy it. |

3/12/2010 - WineontheBarrelhead wrote: 87 pointsDeep crimson in color, with aromas of crushed mulberries and sweet cured tobacco giving way to flavors of dried dark fruits, roasted almonds and mocha, with hints of vanilla and black olive wafting throughout. An interesting blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Syrah, it's full-bodied and complex, but the tannins are approachable. It could nevertheless benefit from another year or two in bottle. |
