It eventually gave up some of the palate’s flavours which ran very much along the jammy, jubey, clichéd SA fruit lines. It tastes of black fruits, liquirice, and even a touch metallic, but still the inherent fruit sweetness comes through. Full-bodied, with medium powdery tannins, lots of mid-palate presence, and a warm, long finish, this is a fairly impressive package, with very little of the minty/menthol quality you often see in Clare reds. Be interesting to see in 10 years. |
