Have had this wine a few times over the last ten years and for me it always under performs the ratings. Comes across as a blend of leftover grapes. Will try to avoid in the future.

Dark red with lighter purple edges. Medium intense nose with intense concentration. Eucalyptus and rich berry fruit, hints of cassis, scorched earth and thyme. Long concentrated dark berry flavours finishing with a bit of menthol. Long tannic finish.

Just beginning to enter it's drinking window.

I am happy to drink this now, it is quite structured but very enjoyable. I think for $30 it is a good buy. I did taste there a few months ago and enjoyed all of their wines. The Gold Chardonnay was exceptional. The PNs were just OK. Can’t imagine paying 145 for one. Nice operation though.

This really is the little engine that could: "Merlot plushness meets structural form" would be a great headline.

Solid foundation of plums & black raspberries, you get a hint of anise in the background. Bonus: the color in the glass is delightful. (It must be a Naramata thing, right?)

Great structure, creamy texture on the mid palate, with nuances and complexity over two evenings - it provides a juicy finish, too.

Perhaps the price is warranted??

Clear light yellow. Intense, lime, kiwi, spice and green apple nose. Dry rich apple, lemon and petrol flavours. The finish is rich but balanced.

Really enjoyable, a rich Riesling that has the acid to finish dry. On par with the best from Tantalus.

I did not know the RS level was that high. I have had most or all of their different Rieslings and have loved every bottle. They are intense but always balanced. I compare the wines to Tantalus because their winemaker was there before Kitsch.

I must warn you not to visit their website it is exceptionally douchey.

I think this needs a few years. Nice big nose, dark fruits, but the mouthfeel is way out of balance. It's like someone calling you names. On the palate it's burnt assholes wrapped in electrical tape. I do have hope for it in a few years. For the money, it's great with something like pizza.

Dark ruby red toward purple with high optical density. Very intense and complex nose, with bell peppers, florals (violets), graphite, bramble, black licorice, and dark fruits mingling and evolving in the glass to reveal increasing interest over time. On the palate, it hits with a smooth, mouth-coating texture, where the tannins have resolved in a beautiful way to support a dense and plush full body. Medium acidity and well integrated alcohol show a northern Rhone style, which speaks to the cool climate terrior of this producer. Still shows a freshness of fruit flavours, with dark berries on the attack that are supported by spicy floral and pepper notes. The midpalate shows a great fullness, with increasing intensity of the initial fruit and spice flavours being complemented by some graphite minerality and some light dried fruit flavours. The finish is lengthy, with well-worn leather and cracked black pepper covering the still-lingering fruit leaving a persistent sensation of black licorice. This is really well made, drinking at or near peak, and is excellent to drink alone or paired with food. Old world styling with vivid and delicious fruit combine to bring a controlled and elegant Syrah that is also complex and concentrated- this is a stunner!

I think the Syrahs are the best wines made in Canada. I haven't had a 12 CC yet but have had all the bottlings other then it over the years.

The SB is insanely good as well. Have you visited? We go almost every year.

Wow. This is really the best Riesling I have tasted from the New World by far -- and perhaps one of the best ever. Complex flavors of tropical fruits (passion, papaya, tart citrus), with amazing steel like acidity. This is both round and taut -- a melding of fruit and acid. But all packaged together in a way that works seemlessly. A lovely lovely wine.

Day 3 -- very strong flavors of passion fruit. This is really a lovely amazing wine. Passion fruit integrated with lovely acidity, and finish that just goes on and on.

Not going to rate this because it would be unfair. I cannot stand Viognier when it is ripe like this. If you are like me avoid this one. There is a very small percent of Viognier in the cepage but it dominates this wine.

4/23/2017 6:49:00 AM - Hi Darren. Generally wines like this come from friends cellars and are tasted blind as part of a group.

I also have a note on the 02 Oculus again tasted blind from the same friend's cellar. I enjoyed enough to score it a 91.

I have been a skeptic as well but have been pleasantly surprised by older bottles of BC wines. I have cellars a few now from Vieux Pin, Poplar Grove, Perseus and Dirty Laundry.

    Cheers.
