Dagueneau (2005-2008) (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Very light, grassy, lemony, chalky finish. Excellent purity.

Random Notes from Travels in France; 4/6/2012-4/14/2012 (Paris, Loire, Alsace): Limpid. Subtle, reticent floral and grapefruit scents. Almost feels like a Muscadet, but this packs quite a mineral and acid punch despite its seeming lack of presence.

À la Paulée
Lichi, pamplemousse. Bouche fraîche mais riche et exotique. Très bel équilibre, mais tombe un peu court. Trop exubérant et exotique à mon goût, mais c'est très bien fait. 89-90 pts

Pop and pour as this wine started to oxidize in a half-filled bottle in the fridge. Disappointing. Something eccentric about the wine like the Nicolaus Joly's wines that are totally individuals. Pale yellow, looks bright and fresh. grapefruit, lemon, hint of smoke on the nose. Aromatic. Intriguing. Full creamy mouthfeel with medium+ tart acidity, more lemons, acacia, hint of green apple and grassiness, really grippy with an extended, green finish. Reminds me of Sancerre, but with higher acidity and a flinty mineral quality that makes it unique.

This bottle is fairly one dimensional. Bright citrus fruit but somewhat tart/acidic. Not lots of complexity. Hoping for more in last bottle.

Somewhat green and austere yet thought provoking and enjoyable nonetheless. Finishes on a slightly oxidative note with citrus, unripe white peaches, green stemminess and a bit of funky male BO. Always a kiss of oak on the last drop in the glass. Day two the violet aroma and the oak step forward a touch, but the extreme bitterness and sour character remain. I can't help but wonder what this wine was like on release, and whether it's over the hill by a couple years or in a tough phase. Feel honored to taste this wine, as it's a bit of history in a bottle: poor Louis-Benjamin had to strike it out on his own in what must've been a tricky 08 vintage after his father Didier's sudden death; instills a completely different perspective on the wine ...

I was starting to get worried by the recent notes here. Unnecessarily, as it turned out. The nose immediately showed some evolution, some mushrooms, a smoky note, a bit of reduction, but after some time in the glass it cleaned up.
At its best had a wonderfully smooth, complex nose, with a sweetness which could have come from the oak perfectly mixed with a floral note.
On the palate that bit of roundness acquired with age was still completely dominated by the sharp, lemony acidity. Nice complexity too, and length. At best with food and it was lovely. Could go quite a few more years.

Bone dry and very acidic. This was subtle and complex, though not very intense (besides the acidity). I found plenty of lemon notes to go along with several other lesser hints. Not as much mineral character as I was expecting.

A knockout! Compared to my first bottle of DD Pouilly-Fumé in February, this bottle rocketed up 4 points to seriously outstanding. Spectacular aromas, fabulous fruits, magnificent minerals, all in a bountiful body that leads to a finish which lasts on and on. Truly triumphant.

Lot of citrus (fruits and zests) on nose (lemon, mandarin), medium complexity.
Good overall balance, medium+ acidity, not too strong for a 2008
No (more) oak.
nice finish, good length, citrus, mineral, simple but clean.

A nice wine, but no more, price is a bit off for me (as all Dagueneau's wines)

Maybe best thing about this wine is the balance. Citrus, great acidity but not too far over the top in that area. Went well with cheese plate, and then just sipping by itself.

Clear with a hint of yellowing. Citrus and minerals dominate the aroma, with some cut grass, oyster shell and even a hint of truffle and tropical fruit.

The palate is so pure and minerally and waves of flavour go on for quite some time. Lively and energetic. Lemons, grapefruit, lime, minerals, granny smith apple. Would love to see it again in five years time.

Worldwide Whites (Edina Country Club, MN): Grapefruit, chalk, floral and spices. Much better on the first go around as it lost some of its complexity on round two. Drink now and enjoy.

This was quite a surprise. The last bottle tasted tasted 6ish years ago was flawed or sub-par at best. This actually showed beautifully with scents of peach, floral notes, and a hint of ocean air. The palate was lean with notes of green apple, lemon, and candied ginger. Outstanding...and a wine worthy of praise.

Dinner with Sierra Doc (Copperopolis, CA): Color: Pale Yellow
Smell: Crushed stone, chalk, lemon zest, and sea breeze
Taste: This wine is all about minerality with an underlying hint of lemon and saline
Overall: Light body, medium+ acidity, medium fruit, and a medium long finish. I think Glenn hit it on the head when we talked about this being young. It’s enjoyable now, but it will improve with time. Louis Benjamin’s transition seems to be a good fit for me. Outstanding.

Straw in color. Nose of grapefruit zest, lime, and pea green. Tart grapefruit and lemongrass in the mouth. Medium-high acidity, incredibly tart, with a long, racy finish. This is intense with its age and still has more years to go. Drink through 2020.

Singing and not tired in the least. Candied lemon with massive acidity which as it warmed and aired backed off a bit leading to a very interesting vinous/concord grape finish.

2008 Blanc Fume de Pouilly - bottle in excelent shape. Needed some air to clear it up to a rich, intense and fresh nose with citrus, grapefruit, mushrooms, mineral and fresh. Palate with good weight, fat palate with sharp acidity and a lemon / grapefruit aftertaste.
