Peach, yellow plum, rhubarb, waffle and lavendel on the nose.
Dry and slightly oily feel with mid-level acidity. Straightforward fruitiness towards the just slightly spicy finish showing some heat.
Quite a boring wine.

A bit sharp at first but improves with prolonged standing. A typical WA shiraz.

Classic, very well balanced between black current, oak and fine tannins. Enjoyed it over two days.

Black and blue fruits are prominent, along with cloves, liquorice and earthy notes. The fruit is powerful, but thankfully not over sweet. It doesn't feel quite balanced right now, the tannins and fruit are a bit discordant. This could be an odd bottle but I would give the wine a couple more years to sort itself out.

Drank immediately, no decanter. Warmly spiced bouquet, white pepper, clove, all spice, secondary notes of purple plums. Savoury and typically WA medium bodied Shiraz, medium dry finish. Still a little bit of integration to go, try again 12-18 months time.
Inoffensive wine really and I don't mind it, although WA style Shiraz is just not for me.

WSET Level 2 Day 1 (WSET): Appearance is clear, pale, lemon colour.
Nose is clean, pronounced acidity, with aromas of toasted oak and tropical fruits - pineapple.
On the palate, low acidity and full body. Lots of tropical fruit and oak. Long finish. Typical warm climate Chardonnay. 14% alcohol.

Pale lime green color. Expressive and rather oak-driven nose with intense aromas of creamy oak, ripe stone fruits, some toasty oak spice, a little bit of crema catalana, light vanilla tones and a subtle undercurrent of smoke. The wine is full-bodied, ripe and quite powerful on the palate with bold flavors of ripe red apples, juicy citrus fruits, rich oaky creaminess, some cloying toffee oak, a little bit of stony minerality, a little bit of vanilla and a hint of canned pineapple. The alcohol really doesn't lend that much warmth to the palate, but it tastes quite prominently. The acidity feels moderately high, keeping the wine from appearing too heavy or flabby. The finish is rich, moderately warm and quite powerful with long flavors of sweet golden apples, creamy oak, some savory oak spice, a little bit of apple peel bitterness, light stony minerality, a sweet - almost cloying - hint of butterscotch and caramel and a touch of tropical fruit preserves.

A super-big, rich and very ripe Australian Chardonnay where the oak and fruit are pretty balanced in the sense that neither really overwhelms the other. However, there's just too much of both. The wine is a case study of excess. Even though there are tons of rich and powerful flavors that are in competition with each other for attention, the wine comes across as utterly dull, boring and excessively sweet - even cloying at times - despite being technically dry. A very uninteresting, overripe and excessively oaked new world Chardonnay without a smidgen of finesse. Not worth the 14,70€.

Excellent, 13% alc.
Colour: dark red berry with dusty edges
Bouquet: savoury plum and black cherry and cranberry fruit, slightly perfumed, dried herbs, black olives, spice
Palate: as bouquet, full bodied, but soft tannins and silky smooth and balanced, very dry

Just good enough to be enjoyable (perhaps the most pretentious statement I have ever uttered).

Plenty of cassis, black berries, bay leaf (quite noticeable), other herbs, coal/asphalt and tobacco - both nose and palate. Finish is a touch short, balance is good after some air (bit sharp initially) and tannins well integrated. A good wine - maybe lacking excitement?

Pretty much the same as the last tasting notes., though I don't rate it quite so highly.
Different food (Spag Bol) this time may have affected the appreciation?

A decent fruit forward syrah consumed over meal & conversation over 4 nights screw capped and refrigerated. By the last day oxidation has turned it to vinegar, but on the first day a decent fruit forward nose and please taste with mild tannins and some structure, but no notable character.
