11/17/2013 - P&F Does not like this wine: 82 pointsPronounced raisin-like nose, and syrup on the palate. It could well be white juice concentrate with some alcohol in it. Monolithic, unchanging, lacking complexity and freshness, and no acid to speak of. Concentrated for sure, like a handful of golden raisins, but otherwise completely uninteresting and flat. Have one more bottle and am hoping that a pairing with cheeses will help it show a little better. |

3/18/2014 - P&F wrote: 89 pointsFragrant and fruited, no surprises; tastes like Australian wine, clearly grenache. It's big and opulent but lacking complexity - as jammy as can be. A glass was enough! Not my style, but I imagine it would be good for someone whose taste runs toward the obviously modern and big. |

2/24/2023 - P&F wrote: 90 pointsMy favorite English writer said it best: "Fine but not exciting." A little oaky for me. Flinty nose, savory but not complex palate, short-moderate finish. No need to buy more. If Burgundian, village wine at very best, generic appelation moreso. If $35 is good for your everyday+ wine, here's your bottle. |

2/27/2023 - P&F wrote: 86 pointsLean and taut - too much so for my taste. I can see a comparison with Northern Rhone, but the acidity is dominant. Maybe it will ease up in the future? The fruit is not compelling enough behind the acidity at this price point for me to want to get more to find out. Raw. |

4/1/2013 - P&F wrote: 92 pointsNose of brioche and caramelized peach, palate is really, really new world and concentrated -- Rand says that it feels less intense or concentrated over a little time after opening. Definitely well done and doesn't taste weighed down with its 14.5% alcohol, but just not nuanced enough for us right now. The finish is moderate to long -- I think a little overpriced for what I look for in a wine. |

10/21/2013 - P&F wrote: 90 pointsPretty dense with a nose that changed from tarry to obvious carmenere over an hour's decant. The palate is rich and satisfying with an appreciable length, tastes like a good Chilean wine. My experience with Carmenere is limited and I suspected I didn't much care for its flavor, and this wine, while very well made and even very enjoyable, confirms that. It's a "once in a while" flavor for me because it's so distinct. We've got 2 more, won't seek out more. Served with beef, didn't affect the meal in any remarkable way -- thus probably OK to drink on its own. |

9/9/2012 - P&F wrote: 90 pointsVery nice, drunk a few days ago without notes. Rand and I both thought that we'd try it young -- and it's fine with some interesting complexity. We both also thought, though, that it will be much better in a few years. Wait until at least 2015 or beyond for the next. |

5/28/2012 - P&F wrote: 88 pointsNose of oak, dried apricots, and lanolin... The taste was alcohol-forward and not so fading as I might have thought from other notes... this stilll has a good few years in it. Also kiwi, green tea, grapefruit midpalate that was slightly honeyed, and some said even a bit of tannin (?!). Smells like a dessert wine but not sweet in the least. Shortish finish of 10-15 seconds. |

7/2/2013 - P&F wrote: 91 pointsWe agree with Beezer quite a lot. Rand is as confused as he, my jury is a little more definitive. Nose with a little beeswax, more green and sauvignon-blanc like than tropical or peachy; palate is thin and faint at first but opens up into slight herbaciousness, with that acidity closing in at the end. It's long and pleasant (Rand says, in contrast, that "stemmy" is the word to use). Chewable. Don't know if I'd buy again for the money. |

4/17/2013 - P&F Likes this wine: 92 pointsNose of asparagus and Meyer lemon, really lovely. Minerally too. I agree with Rand: that's it's difficult to pin down a taste of specific fruits or flowers or anything like that - but it's crisp, clean, and fine. Reminds me a Tulbagh Mountain Vineyards white, and being from France, is almost twice the price of that. Finish is light but persistent. There are no rough edges on this, and despite others' notes, I fell like this still has a couple of years in it. |

6/17/2012 - P&F wrote: 90 pointsNose of something blackened, but we're not sure what... also some earthiness and loamy quality; licorice also, perhaps. Whatever it is, it is clearly Bordeaux. Tastes similar to the nose: earthy, charred meats. Moderate finish. A good buy at $25. It probably could go another few years but is just lovely right now. Looking at earlier reviews, this is a good example of why I won't touch Bordeaux for at least 10 years in many instances (unless really thirsty for it). |

7/3/2015 - P&F Likes this wine: 90 pointsPretty well integrated, aging nicely. There is a lovely Semillon richness to an otherwise lean Sauvignon streak. I wouldn't say it is special but it is very pleasant. At half the price it could be a very nice everyday wine. |

6/5/2013 - P&F wrote: 90 pointsVery nicely balanced. It doesn't make you sit up and take notice, but is very pleasant with nothing out of whack. My little wine book says that this chateau ages well because of the semillon/soil, so I'll hold onto one and see what happens in 4 or 5 years. |

6/9/2013 - P&F wrote: 89 pointsA really fresh, clean nose of lemons and stones; the palate is nice but a little one dimensional -- faint honeyed notes, but more notable acidity and graceful sauvignon character, which makes me wonder should this age more? The finish is smooth and integrated but nothing to write home about. |
