The Argentine wine was paler in color, less concentrated, and much more of the terroir was evident. The Kontos was an inky youthful purple, and abundant in fruit. Blueberries came to mind. |

A huge, no YUUUGE nose full of fruit & flowers, maybe a bit hot, because I sniffed some hooch, too. Gil (my father in law) pointed out that Chilean cabs have less tannins than their American cousins, and I'd agree. This wine has lots of bright fruit, mint, a light texture, a long finish, and I'm sad we polished off the bottle at dinner. It got better and better. 91 means worthy of a do-over, right? |

Very well mannered, nice structure, nothing too bold to overpower the meal or the conversation. Light fruit on the nose, cherries, a hint of lead pencil, medium bodied. No offense taken, and we'll invite you over again. Especially since we didn't talk politics. |

Over that time, the color has darkened from a light apricot yellow, to a tawny amber-orange. Finally we hosted Thanksgiving and had enough folks (11 of 'em) around the table to try this sweet, sharp Sauterne with their pumpkin pie dessert. A little of this nectar goes a long way, but a perfect pairing; bite of pie, sip of Sauterne, and maybe a little nip of coffee. Quite lovely, with bright flavors of honey, stone fruit, and pear. |

The mellow nose belies a spicy cocktail of white pepper, flinty stone, sour cherries. With time the flavors softened to vanilla & dark cherry. All good for washing down the turkey. |

12/9/2018 - BobbaWA Likes this wine: 87 pointsI didn't like this wine last time I drank a bottle, so I sacrificed this one to a braised lamb shank recipe. I tasted it first, and felt a little guilty as it seemed to have a light, bright character, a bit tart but would have been drinkable. But the lamb shanks are going to be amazing. |

Great minds think alike. There is some fruit in there somewhere, but the tart acidity makes this atypical of what I remember in Vino Nobile. Meh. |
