As the wine warmed up in with air, it became distinctly more minerally on the nose with hints of rust and wet iron. Oily, dense, fat and chewy in the mouth with wonderful levels of glycerin. Superb concentration of flavours with a lemon peel mixed with vanilla and butter note to it, coupled with excellent definition, structure and precision. Good complexity and a warm, long aftertaste. In spite of the adjectives used here, the note isn't supposed to hint at a new world style Chardonnay. This wine was classic. |

Flavors are immense: apple pie, graham crackers, pineapples, rocks, still clean acid but a defined richness. This is what White Burgundy is about. Can it hold up more? I’d say the acid provides another 3-7 years, but it’s so good already. |

7/17/2016 - Goldstone Likes this wine: 96 pointsSunday Lunch at Friends (Their House, Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong): Lovely bright light lemony gold colour. nose is...gosh...very lifted piano notes of fresh lemon skin, spice, white shoe cream.......oh, mesmerising and already reverberent inside your head before you have taken the first sip. Palate is spice, sun-baked lemon skins, lovely integrated oak, a semi-sweetness of lemon meringue pie, a symphony of lemons..... wonderful finesses and depth....multi-dimensional and beguiling. Fantastic elegance and finesse but also with real power. Length is forever and is so resonant. Absolutely gorgeous and stayed that way all afternoon. No hint of ageing but this is so 'whole' now that I wouldn't take too many chances that it will improve. One of my 5 wines of the year so far. |

10/17/2014 - Goldstone Likes this wine: 96 pointsWhite Truffle Lunch (Otto e Mezzo, Alexandra House, Central, Hong Kong): Decanted briefly. Light yellow-green gold colour. Nose is slightly new rubber cycle tyres on entry and not giving much else.....except that it has a resonance and reverberance inside the head just from the nose, which is rare and remarkable and a sign of better things to come when it ages. Palate is slightly oily in an attractive way followed by distinct spice and a fugue on a dozen different types of lemon, and loads more spice....then a massive expansion and explosion in the head with an endless finish....incredibly elegnt and finessed. Beautifully made - linear precision. More petrol elements come out as it warms up in the glass. Stunning. I could drink this all day. It was as good after 3 hours in the glass as it was at the beginning. Amazingly open for a 2005. Thanks, Guy! |

On the palette you really get an explosion that shows the high quality of this wine. You get apricot, lemon, grapefruit, honey and high level of buttery creaminess (something that was not visible in the beginning - but suddenly became very dominating, after the wine has been opened for a while). The wine has a relative high acidity level - we would say close to medium +,- but this does not affect the overall balance of the wine that is great. The wine has a high level of complexity with a long and very pronounced aftertaste. We really like the wine and gives well deserved solid 95. |
