It has the color in the glass of a 10 year old. The nose screams 25 year old. We drank over the course of three hours, from the bottle. The first glass was as good as the last. Never faded one bit. If there is better wine out there, I can't imagine it. This is the first bottle of wine I've ever given a 100 point score (and I've only ever rated a dozen over 95 points). I can see it lasting for years to come, but again, it's so good now. Why wait? Also, the cork was impeccable and looked like it was in a two year old bottle. Bottle was stored in climate controlled cellar since it was available to the market. |

Dazzling aromatics of violet, mocha, espresso -- almost Barolo-like nose. Molten tar, crushed minerals and a hint of a balsamic-like element too. Fruity and fresh on the palate, with layers of complexity. Loads of blueberry, chocolate, violet and spice. Refreshing yet fruity, ethereally light on its feet yet powerful. This is not an elegant wine, nor is it airy or "light on its feet". It is not supposed to be. This wine takes in all that California sunshine has to offer and jams it into an explosive and easy to appreciate package while never losing its balance. If sound of this excites you, run -- as this bottle is peaking and begging to be drunk! (No hurry though, not on decline at all) |

Flavors exhibited the same with dark fruits of black cherry and blackberry and notes of cassis. The tannins were soft with a balance of acid for a older wine! Finish was long and enduring with flavors of dark fruit and chocolate. Amazing wine- flavors and essences changed again and again for a unique experience. |

Bought this 16 years ago when I started my collection. Decanted for 1.5 hours, and could have handled more. Nose of crushed black berries, currents, with cedar box, pencil lead minerals with loamy moist soil. Palate follows characteristics of nose with balance of firm tannins and acid. Could write for days on the numerous variables of flavors and harmony of the minutes long finish, but will sum it up wth 100 points. A great wine. 5 people found this helpful, do you? On the palate, this is in a perfect place. Complex and layered, but with lots of fruit. Still has light tannins to resolve. Finish goes on forever. This was easily the best bottle of Insignia I can remember having. Wow. |
