Stunning wine. Drank in very good company with other MR chardonnays from 2013 and 14, including a beautiful Pierro 13 (see my review of that) and this was the best of the night. Gorgeous golden colour, nutty nose with a touch of sweetness, such a full richness on the palate. JH called it "elegant" and he's bang on the money. As complete as I can ever remember a chardonnay tasting.

Beautiful nose of red berries, subtle cedar and mixed herbs. A silky, medium-bodied wine which is quite fine boned. Raspberries and some blackberry, vanilla, bay leaf, tobacco, elements of wild herbs. Fine and persistent tannins. A lengthy and rewarding finish. High quality wine that is likely to age well for well 20+ years.

Yep, if you thought 18 and 19 were good, the 2020 vintage is all that but with tighter fruit weight and structure - with again this wonderful balance of acidity and oak integration. Clearly value for money the best Chardonnay in Margs at the moment!!

Made from a selection of extremely low-yielding parcels of grapes from the original Lagan Vineyard. This to one side, the vinification was the same as that of the standard wine. The fruit flavour and structure are radically different, with all the focus on stone fruit, led by white peach and nectarine, and with a gentleness, almost delicacy, on the palate - deceptive, particularly given the time it spent in French oak.

Appearance: Pale gold
On the nose: Med+ intensity, wet pebble, toast,white peach, granny smith apple, melon, butter, creamy, honey, marzipan. Developing.
On the palate: Pronounce intensity, high acidity, med alcohol, med body, hazelnut, creamy, marzipan, long finish.
Overall, outstanding wine. Leaner style chardonnay, well balanced. The nuttiness and creamy is lingering on the palate. Can drink now, has potential for ageing.
P.S. on day 2, it’s like opening a sweet honey pot. Beautiful!

The nose starts out with quite a lot of oak, with some purple and black fruits - blackcurrant and blackberry predominantly. Plenty of violets and a lifted sweetness with some menthol characteristics.

The palette is very fresh and floral with good tannin structure and the oak taking more of a back seat. There is still some acidity that balances well with the spicy and black pepper mid palette. The finish is quite long, quite hot, and has lingering blackberry and liquorice notes.

Superb. Bang in the sweet spot for me.
Lovely example. Great length, big pineapple on the nose. Honey notes coming though, if i had anymore i would be drinking them in the next year, sadly thats not an issue as that was my last one.

A deep crimson robe in the glass promises well. The nose is powerfully redolent of cedar, ribena and blackberry with a hint of mint. The palate is a blackberry explosion with well integrated tannin and acid support. Different to Coonawarra Cabernet and increasingly my preferred area for superior Cabernet in Australia. Great with a food steak dish.

Luscious without being cloying. Even better after 24 hours open. A full palate as you would expect from Viognier, good acid and a good finish.

Brilliant. Blows Cab Sav's twice the price out of the water.
On the nose it's rich in berry and oak.
On the tongue it carries generous layers of plum, red currant and leather. The tannins still need time to settle, but the strong flavours and long, smooth finish make this an excellent wine to drink both now, or to store away for years to come.

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle.
The nose is intense morello cherry and very fruity;
On the palate there is a slightly barrique note, well integrated; medium body and very mouthfilling, tannin is dry but pleasant;
this is an excellent merlot with depth, insistence and a tricky finish.
Thats why this is one of my favorites. Someone claimed that this was the best merlot in 2002 and beated Petrus in a blind tasting. But I can hardly believe that.

Excellent chardonnay. Lemon, peach, nectarine and a hint of banana. Vanilla, cream and spice add lovely textural elements. The acidity sits on a precise knife-edge. Long finish adds to the overall effect.

Top notch MR Chardonnay. 25% New French Oak for 9 months with no malo. This is a lean, focused wine with high acidity, abundant citrus fruit, toasted nuts and wood smoke, biscuit and pastry. It feels like it hasn't aged a day, it's hard to believe this is 2016 vintage. Decanting for 1 hour helped.

Balance, Length, Intensity & Complexity

Pricey, yes. But the quality is there, and it's a refreshing clean style of Chardonnay that is becoming more prevalent in Australia.

There is an interesting fruit sweetness to the nose with earthy overtones as well. The palette is textural and still quite tannic and the fruit is quite soft.

50% new french oak for 16 months

I like the blending; malbec and petit verdot are reminders of the older BX blends and work remarkably well here to build upon the charming CS fruit and add a few layers of depth and complexity.

Lovely smokey dark nose, with leather components

Texture built on rich smooth tannins, layers and layers of complex fruit.

Grip is well defined; will be interesting to see how this develops.

This is a quite outstanding example of Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon. Dense purple colour, looking quite youthful despite 10 years of age. Aromoa of ripe boysenberry with mint, but none of the gummy character that is apparent in Cab Sav from other parts of Australia. Great balance and progression in the mouth: flavours of aniseed and ripe berryfruit build through the middle palate, and then fade gracefully into a lingering, velvety finish. Understated elegance is a marker for this very classy wine. Not too many wines we drink make the grade as outstanding, but this is one.

Chablis copy - nose rock smoke and flint, crystalline minerality and lime, wet rocks, hint of toasted nut, lemon custard, precision and focus!
2-3 more years would be perfection, acid still m+ and taut.

Pithy, reductive, precise, and racy.
