1/11/2019 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 97 pointsAbsolutely the best Australian Shiraz I have ever experienced. PNP at Roys Restaurant in La Jolla. Continued to get richer and deeper over 90 minutes. No signs of going over the hill. I wish I had more. What a treat!! |

12/7/2019 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 97 pointsPNP at Hong Kong in Hillcrest, San Diego. At age 18 this wine has reached the pinnacle of what a Syrah should be. No sign of age but it's fully mature. |

4/21/2021 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 95 pointsWhat a pleasant surprise this bottle was. Given that 2011 was supposed to be a down year not much was expected of this odd bottle. What emerged was a fully mature masterpiece of wine making. Very smooth, layered nuances, penetrating bouquet and a long savory finish. Have no idea how I acquired this bottle but i'm sorry I have no more. (at least I don't think I have additional bottles) Could there be another in the 1500 odd bottles I have in my cellar?? Here's hoping. |

9/19/2019 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 95 pointsHad at Pt Loma Cafe, accompanied Blacken Salmon very nicely. About as good as Syrah gets. A little tight on PNP but evolved nicely over the hour we spent at dinner. Hope the other two bottles I have are as good as this one was. No hurry if you have some but I don't think it'll get any better from here on. What a treat this was, best bottle of wine i've had in several months. Yummy!!! |

2016 Daou Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon PatrimonyPaso Robles Adelaida District more |
1/26/2022 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 95 pointsWith time in the cellar this could jump up a few points. It's now young and experiencing some growing pains. Once everything Jells and integrates this has the potential to be a Blockbuster. Mostly agree with the other notes here. I popped & Poured a bit to taste, then decanted for 10 hours, If you must open a bottle plan on the decant, otherwise it goes into a cool dark corner of my cellar for another 5 years, maybe longer depending on the observations of other collectors in the coming years. |

1992 Guenoc Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve BeckstofferNapa Valley more |
11/14/2023 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 95 pointsEnjoyed with a Nice Filet at Flemming's in San Diego. Not showing any noticeable signs of age. Tannins are still present but not obtrusive. I don't think there's any hurry to drink this one up but not much room for further improvement either. Nose is muted on opening but develops nicely. A rich, robust example of a Beckstoffer Cabernet. Enjoy now and for the next 5 years. The cork came out whole using an air pump opener however it was crumbly and broke apart easily. No signs of leakage. |

9/14/2022 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 95 pointsDelightful bottle. Enjoyed with Short ribs at the Bayside Bar and Grill, San Diego. Quite youthful with Tannic undertones which which disappated with Air Time. Should last another 10 years. Good complexity with layered flavors. Wish I had more of this one. Bought from Winebid a few years ago. Recommend a 1 hour decant rather a PNP. |

5/29/2022 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 94 pointsIf we need a reminder of why we buy these wines then lay them away for 10 or more years this was an adequate reward for patience. Lovely wine, fully mature, velvety texture, resolved tannins, evolving nose. Should hold for a few more years but in its prime drinking window right now. An absolutely gorgeous bottle of Napa Cabernet properly cellared and aged. |

11/19/2018 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 94 pointsAlmost a "Wow" factor here. Drinking perfectly, Tanins are well integrated, nose is layered and lingerings, absolutely smooth and sophisticated. Probably will hold at this level for a few more years but delightful right now. Yum Yum Yum 2 bottles left - can't wait. Paired well a Medium Rare T-Bone, Grilled Asparagus, and oven roasted potatoes. |

5/29/2022 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 94 pointsNow I know why I purchase and cellar these wine for 10 plus years. Gorgeous Syrah that would stand up well against the best wines from the Rhone Valley. No need to hurry if you have some but it's delightful right now. Expressive nose, silky texture, delicious wine from Sonoma County. Enjoyed with Grilled Salmon, might be better paired with a good Steak accompaniment. Absolutely au pointe. Wish I had more. |

11/28/2018 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 94 pointsVery pleasant Cabernet drinking well right now. Light sediment in the bottle, takes an hour or two to open up. PNP and it got better over 3 hours watching the NFL. Found this a Grocery Outlet for $6.95 a bottle... Might be the best Bargain ever. No hurry to drink up but very enjoyable right now. |

4/11/2022 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 94 pointsExcellent Bottle in premier condition, no ullage or signs of cork deterioration. Was a superior accompaniment to Grilled Pork Chops and Fresh Corn on the Cob. If you have any it's ready to drink but I don't think there's any particular urgency. It should hold nicely for another 5 years at least. No idea how I acquired this bottle, it's been in the cellar for over 10 years, just came upon it while searching for a dinner wine. It did not disappoint. |

12/15/2018 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 94 pointsPNP at Puerto La Boca, San Diego. Clearly a Rutherford Cabernet. Opens up nicely in the glass. Might benefit from an Hour or two decant but drinking very well straight out of the bottle.Perfect accompaniment to a good steak. |

8/12/2021 - ken@ampy.com wrote: 94 pointsThis is drinking beautifully right now. Excellent accompaniment to Beef Tips and Broccoli at Park House Eatery, University Heights, San Diego. I would say this is right in the middle of its drinking window, should last another 5 years but no need to wait. I still have one bottle in reserve then it's gone. Tannins resolved, long finish, plenty of fruit remaining, just an all around delightfully delicious bottle of Syrah. One of the better examples I've experienced in the last 50 years. |

1/30/2020 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 93 pointsPNP - Pizza y Bierra, San Diego. Opens a little tart but that blows off 80% in 20 minutes. From there this wine continues to develop for the next hour ending up being a special bottle of Chianti, best I have ever tasted and I'm 78 so that's a lot of bottles. My sniffer and my taste buds aren't what they used to be but this was the smoothest, richest, savoriest Italian wine I've ever experienced. Wish I'd bought a case....or 2. Enjoy. |

2012 Castello di Bossi Corbaia Toscana IGTSuperTuscan Blend more |
6/5/2020 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 93 pointsVery nice Toscana, needs a decant to fully open up. Enjoyed at Volare in San Diego. This wine will continue to improve over time as it integrates it layers. It may well reach 94-95 in another 5-7 years. Went well with Italian Sausage & Broccoli as well as Gorgonzola Shrimp and Chicken Parm. Would stand up well to a Rare N.Y. Steak. I'll try it again in a year and each year following until i run out - 8 more bottles to go. Hope I live that long - 79 now. Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

Quite enjoyable actually, glad I have more bottles stashed away. I'll give them a few more years although it's drinking well right now. Probably has another 5-10 years of maturation left. No hurry to consume this one. |
