Decanted for an hour+. Red current and vanilla bean on the nose. Soft tannins, sour black and red cherry on the pallet. |

Lush dark fruit, hints of cocoa and gravel on the palate. Balanced with fine tannins. It will be interesting to see if this wine lasts another 15 years |

Absolutely beautiful wine that fit the bill at one of the most memorable meals my wife and have ever eaten. This is in the window and should last for years. IMO this blew away the 01 insignia we had the following night. |

4/25/2014 - MarkMich wrote: 94 pointsThis was fantastic tonight. I gave it a 92 a year ago from a restaurant. Tonight I decanted for two hours and served with sausage and pork tenderloin. blew away the 2011 CdP we had before. Viscous and coated the mouth according y neighbor. The nose was a smooth cherry vanilla. There were substantial tannins initially that softened over the two ours we consumed the bottle. Cherry, some anise and fine seaweed on the palate. really voluptuous, rich and a nice wine. This should age nicely but will be difficult to keep from drinking. buy it if you can find it. |

12/25/2011 - MarkMich wrote: 94 pointsDecanted for 4 four hours and was not enough. My 7 year old said it smelled like hot dogs.....so much for the wisdom of youth. The bouquet is full of red fruit, vanilla and a little alcohol. This is a beautiful bottle that has years to go. Drinkable now but I would wait for another 3 year to try again. This may gain a couple more points....could be great. |

3/6/2013 - MarkMich wrote: 94 pointsI have had this several time and this was by far the best showing. I decanted and the nose hit you imeadiatly upon opening. It was in need of air so I left it for 3 hours. Dark reddish purple and a hint of brown on the edges. Red cherries, slate and a hint of anise on the nose. Beautiful bouquet. Well balanced. Some tart red fruit, wet granite and a hint of cocoa on the palate. A good 30 second finnish. Very nice bottle of wine. |

2/16/2013 - MarkMich wrote: 94 pointsExcellent bottle of wine! Tannic and not giving much upon opening. but a couple hours in the decanter was huge. Red fruit, vanilla and Carmel on the nose. Well balanced, opulent style of Brunello. Black cherry, chocolate and Carmel on the palate. Not sweet though. I really enjoyed this. I hope to find more. Do you find this review helpful? 6/7/2012 - MarkMich wrote: 94 pointsI decanted this for one hour. The aromas blasted me in the face as I was pouring into the decanter. This is drinking beautifully now but will last for years. I will definitely try to get more. Black Cherry Red with long slow legs. Cherries and wet slate on the nose. Lots of red fruit, granite and a hint of anise on the mid palate....ending with some hidden vanilla and smooth tannins on the finish. This is really a nice wine and along with the 03 Pontet-Canet and Duhart-Milon have made me a believer in the vintage. |

Inky red and long slow legs with a wonderful bouquet of cherries, cassis and some spice. gobs of red fruit, anise, cream and a hint of chocolate brownie on the palate. Soft but substantial tannins and a long finish. this should last for year and while enjoyable now I will get more to cellar for the long haul. Very nice. |

7/12/2012 - MarkMich wrote: 94 pointsThis is a great bottle of wine. Dark blood red. Sour cherry and a hint of menthol on the nose. Surprisingly balanced for the young age. Red tart fruit with touches of truffle and white chocolate. There are smooth tannins to last and I would definitely buy more. This should get better with tIme. |
