Fortunately after an hour of air time the fruit subsided enough for it to actually taste like Vitis Vinifera. Medium+ body, acidity, tannins; long finish (with an interesting plum and licorice taste that lingers a long time). There are some baking spice, minerality, and floral notes, but the berries dominate still. I'd advise holding off on this for another couple years to let the fruit subside some. The wine clearly has the structure to age for several years. |

11/2/2014 - up4wine wrote: 91 pointsThis Nerello is an excellent example of when the grape is done well. I have now had several entries from Etna DOC, and I would say this and one other were head and shoulders above the rest. Of course, this was also the most expensive. So, no bargain, but top wine from the region. Attack has tart fruit that smooths out in mid-palate with hints of berries. Finish is long with no harshness. |

12/22/2015 - ChristyLeighNY Likes this wine: 92 pointsgreat food wine. light medium body, plenty of fruit. not a characteristic etna rosso wine, not as earthy as I'd expect. More pinot like without the heavy cherries and perfumes. Had at Esca and then in Spartanburg for Christmas |

On the palette the alcohol is very powerful, but with the right food - something spicy or something rich - the delicious fruit will work well. |

4/27/2016 - JulianSkeels Likes this wine: 94 pointsI really like this wine, which improved with air. Initially a raspberry jam nose - by far the biggest nose of all the Etna wines - this is also much darker, and with much more ripeness. It's also very structured with tanins, acid and minerality. With air there were signs of complex minerals, mocha and chocolate. Super decadent. More like a top Amarone than modern Barolo, but much more sweetness and here the alcohol is less prominent. I loved it - and snapped up a case immediately. Will be great with heavy game dishes. I think this will improve significantly, and will drink mine 2020-2030. 94+pts. |

7/9/2016 - Tom_Somm Likes this wine: 93 pointsTremendous. Poured immediately. Very food friendly and Pinot like. You can definitely detect the volcanic influenced terroir here, but ample fruit to balance. Smooth and delightful finish. If this wine is indicative of the region, hugely underrated. |

6/22/2020 - rmalloy Likes this wine: 90 pointsThe 2017 Arcuria is an easy drinking Etna Rosso with round and sweet flavors of red cherries and strawberries and light accents of leather, cinnamon, and flint. The overall sensation is fruit forward and pleasurable, but nowhere near as profound as the 2015 Arcuria I tasted last month. |

8/2/2016 - peternelson Likes this wine: 92 pointsAt the winery with Ricardo: Big red and black fruits, wild berries, pure, pure pure, rasp., blk, cherry--fruity but with really good minerality integrated; fine silky tannins, touch of anise. Very fine Etna Rosso. 100% NM, 1-4 mo. maceration. |

4/14/2018 - anderegg Likes this wine: NRPnP. A lot of strange blow off aromas that quieted down after about 10-15 minutes. Fairly thick legs, so higher alcohol. Resolved into a very nice wine. Quite a bit of fruit, medium to medium+ tannin. The finish was on the hot side. Drank with dinner of moderately spiced Cuban pork, Charleston golden rice and a tossed lettuce salad. Very nice with and after dinner. |
