A curious rubbery wax capsule.
Deep salmon pink. Very curious nose - citrus and vanilla with a hint of sweet VA and some raisins. Big and heavy on the palate. Good fruit, with a bit of sweetness and high alcohol. Spice and soft tannins on the finish. Much improved with food. Suggestive of a rosé amarone and really quite a mad wine! Very Good Indeed.

The Fourth Great Liverpool Off-line (New Brighton): A very unusual nose - a touch steely, quite intense - warm cherries and stewed strawberry. Big round and full in the mouth. A bit hot, maybe, and very alcoholic. Big fruit. Very complex and really quite a bruiser. If drunk blindfolded, you would assume this was a red wine. Very Good Indeed.

Deep, more red than rosé, though in a very small amount in the glass, there's a slightly orangey, dark onion skin colour, which suggests (not unsurprisingly) that this is now showing a bit of age. Deep, dark red fruits on the nose with a fair bit of sweetness and just a touch of vanilla and rose perfume. Feeling a touch dried out on the palate, with some raisining, this is now starting to feel quite like an aged Rivesaltes ambré vin doux naturel, something which the 16% alcohol does nothing to dispel. This is the first 16% abv, ten year old Zweigelt rosé that I've ever had. Not unpleasant, but certainly a bit bonkers. Somewhere between rosé amarone, Croft Pink and a southern French vin doux naturel.

Deepish, slightly orangey salmon-pink. Deep, sweet red fruits, sweet grapefruit and vanilla on the nose with some raisining. Big. I mean BIG in the mouth. Lots of sweet, slightly raisined red fruit, but it's one dry. Absolutely enormous length. Amazingly, it carries its massive 16% alcohol very well, and it's lost the alcoholic heat of its youth.
Tasted blind, you would undoubtedly put it as a 10, or maybe even 20 year old tawny port.
It's still pure lunacy, but it's getting a lot more drinkable now.

Aromas and tastes of mid summer fruit - strawberry and raspberry. Nicely demi-sec, this worked very well with a fruit and cheese course after dinner. Light and nicely balanced, even if somewhat simple.

On the nose spices, ripe cherry fruit, cherry liqueur. On the palate concentrated, linear, expressive. Good acidity, slightly bitter finish with some tannic grip. Good. 88-90

Hans is the nickname. Is it just me or is it quite bloody on the nose. Hans is a butcher, label painted by Manfred Krankle (sp?). Tangy and powerful, a bit sour on the back, doesn't go well with tooth paste.

For a long time - until 2012 - the wines were made at Kracher.

Nese med jordslige toner og mørke kirsebær. Munnen har initelt blod og metall, med luft kommer moreller og hengt kjøtt. Fint integrerte tanniner, men de tørrer en del mot slutten. Dette er nok en matvin.

ruby colour, medium (+) intensity; clear; cherry rim. nose: tart; slightly fermented red fruits (touch of VA) - red cherries, red plums; natural gas. taste: high acidity; medium (+) tannins volume - pinchy; plums, red cherries, black cherries, ripe strawberries; long finish. VA lower the score.

This really exceeded expectations.

Dark garnet in the glass. Smoke, burnt cedar, pepper, wild flowers. Smells at times like a Northern Rhone. Similar notes on the palate, with some pepper, very nicely balanced. Some crunchy red cherry on here, very expressive finish with good length.

Wow. This is a surprisingly (to me, had never had it before) amazing bottle of wine. This might be the rare case of finding a bottle at its absolute peak.

Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Light-medium expressiveness, red currants and blackberry, white pepper, and dark flowers. Palate: Medium bodied, dark red fruit attack, good balance, white pepper appears in the mid-palate, back-end shows black pepper and earthiness. Finish: Medium length dominated by dark red fruit and spice.

Dark ruby colour with pale rim. long legs. nose: in the first attack notes of cjecken stock and umami plus herbs - rosemary, thyme; later some cherry fruit and wet earth, forrest bedding, wet leaves. taste: medium (+) acidity; ripe, integrated tannins - soft; overripe cherries, coffee; long finish with some billberries and some allspice and juniper. nicely maturing.

Oh. Good texture, good structure, needs a lot of air and would benefit from some cellar time. Spicy marzipan, freshness, restrained yet ripe and juicy red and blue fruit. Great value.

Big, black in the glass. Huge nose of ripe, almost overripe black fruit, pepper, cardamom and licorice. Same on the palate. The fruit is so overripe here, it's hard to apprehend. The wine is just kicking me in the face the whole evening even with only 13% abv and for some reason, I had a very nasty hangover the next day upon drinking only half a bottle with dinner. Not coming back to this again.

medium ruby colour, light rim, not really clear. nose: robust; red cherries, strawberries, some fruits from the pan or overripe fruits; soft umami notes plus balsamic. taste: medium (+) acidity; very ripe black cherries, black plums; umami and roasted chicken; some spice - cinnamon plus tobacco; medium (+) finish. good balance.
