2010 Shane Grenache Blanc

Very light straw color. Aromas of fresh lemongrass and white melon expand and pair with peach, honeysuckle, and a mineral element on the palate. Nicely balanced, staying clean and focused through the medium finish.

Wonderful nose, citrus and melon. Somewhat austere on the palate but well focused with peaches and minerality. Medium finish. Nice first try.

Perfect wine with our Turkey. Shane is producing some of the best QPR wine anywhere. The fruit and acidity were exactly what our Thanksgiving was looking for. Beautiful flavors of citrus coat your mouth. This is exactly the kind of producer that I love supporting.

Consumed over 4 hours. Nose: Medium expressiveness, pear, green apple, and lightly toasted buttered bread. Palate: Medium bodied, creamy mouth-feel, sweet citrus and marzipan attack, good acidic balance, nice mid-palate persistence, fades just a little through the back-end but there is still enough goodness left to drive a medium length finish dominated by canned pears and a hint of black licorice.

Lots of texture yet still remains savory for all that. With some lifted mid palate.

The oak is dropping already on this youngster - good spiciness and flinty finish to the orange, meyer lemon fruits. Really nice white with foods - I had it with garlic chicken and enjoyed the slightly acidic match.

No new oak, fermented/aged in same barrel. Great acidity for New World wine, fresh, bright, fruit shines and then a crisp finish. Savory, light finish.

More of a heavy handed g.b. than I was expecting - with noticeable vanilla oak and a good dose of sweet sugars from the lees. Plenty of tropical notes (guava and mango along with some white pepper) and a zestiness that confirmed it was anything but your typical cali white offering. I was put off more than I had expected by the oak but hope that it will calm down if this is cellared for at least another six months or longer. Should prove interesting once the oak settles.

Consumed over 2 days, note from day 2. Nose: Medium expressiveness, lemon butter, green apple, and crushed rock. Palate: Medium bodied, creamy mouth-feel, sweet peach and lemon attack, nice acidic kick mid-palate. Finish: Medium length sense of sweet citrus with a good dose of minerals.

Delicious, a very surprising wine, layers of fruit, solid acidity and a big dose of alcohol that is perfectly balanced.

Almost completely clear with the slightest green tinge. Strong sweet honeydew melon with pear and maybe a bit of artificial fruit candy on the nose. Banana Leaf, kiwi finish, light pear, and dried Apple notes. The finish is the lingering aftermath of a Texas Ruby Red grapefruit. Fresh with great energy; light bodied. This wine appears to be designed for short-term enjoyment.

Very light yellow-green, almost clear. Delicious bouquet of fresh lemongrass. Lemongrass notes with strong minerality and an underlying herbal funk that grows to dominate the finish. Very nice.

Had to grab one of these when I saw it at Bottle Barn - never did get to try the 2010.

It seemed just the tiniest bit austere at first opening, but with some air, and a bit warmer, shone as a excellent representation of a solid GB.

The initial bright, austere ness wasnt a slam, I'll take a lean GB over a slutty flabby one any day.
As a vintner and passionate consumer of GB, I don't give praise for this varietal easily.

Its a different style then what I seek to accomplish with Two Shepherds GB, perhaps why I like this so much, its well made with good contrast.

Fresh, bright, vibrant, not as nuanced as TS, but thats what makes it different and great.

Nose is vibrant lemon zest. green apple. hint of wet stone.
The front palate is full of citrus, the mid palate has nice stone fruits, the finish is lingering, with notes of minerality, salinity.

Well done. Have to see if Shane will share vinification notes sometime.
If you have some, its obviously wonderful now, but likely will gain complexity and minerality with bottle aging.
(although its screw cap, so maybe not.)

Grass, floral and honey suckles. The palate is a bit bitter and uninspiring. Nose much better and the last bottle was better than this. Past peak.

Tasty. Robust soft cherry & dry raspberry, with a touch of spice. Sun-kissed pure red fruits show nicely, with minimal oak influence. Enjoyable texture, with a bit of acid to support.
