2/3/2018 - ChipGreen Likes this wine: NRDeep ruby color with widely spaced slow running legs. Dusty cherries w currant and cassis on both nose and palate. Judicious use of oak which is well integrated. Medium tannins and medium + finish. Enjoyable, good value. |

Green apple dominates the off-dry palate with fresh-picked pear and white peach. Lighter notes of lemon-lime zest, honeydew, slate and petrol round out the flavor profile with just the right amount of acidity to carry it through the medium finish. This reminded me somewhat of a Finger Lakes Riesling. |

1/30/2014 - ChipGreen wrote: 90 pointsDark red, almost purple in the glass with a brickish hue. Cherry and cedar on the nose with some candied bottle bouquet, very nice! Cherry, cassis, tobacco and leather with allspice and medium tannins on the medium+ finish. Day 2: the wine has picked up a slightly acetic characteristic. Not a good sign for further aging so I agree with those who have suggested to drink up soon. Less fruit than day 1 with more spice and more pronounced tannins. Still quite good but noticeably diminished from day 1. Note that I opened the bottle which seemed to have the cork protruding a little more than my other 5 bottles and that the cork was wet about 1/3 of the way up so it's possible that bottles with better cork integrity may have some extra life in them. EDIT to add that there was some sediment in the bottle but not a lot. |

8/29/2014 - ChipGreen wrote: NRSalmon pink color in the glass, mostly watermelon on the nose with just a little funk (yeast/cheese). The watermelon really seems to jump out of the glass. There is more watermelon on the palate, along with some light red berries. Hard to really distinguish between raspberry, cherry, strawberry - mostly just a general sense of light red berry flavors complementing the watermelon. The watermelon is nowhere near as dominant on the palate as on the nose but it is still in the lead. There is a little sweetness (I'd be interested to see what the RS is) but it doesn't veer into Jolly Rancher territory. There is also a little spice that starts on the mid-palate and carries through to the finish. Medium+ acidity helps tie it all together. Refreshing and enjoyable. |

2/13/2014 - ChipGreen wrote: 89 pointsPnP through aerator. Still holding up well. Nose of cherry, violet, earth, dark fruits and a touch of menthol/eucalyptus. The 24% Cabernet is apparent both on the nose and palate but is well integrated. Cherry palate with blueberry, blackberry, loam and some Syrah meatiness. Juicy mouthfeel with firm tannins but likely milder than before based on previous reviews. Day 2 notes similar to day 1, not any better or worse. The cherry note was a bit more sour than day 1 and I didn't notice any eucalyptus on the nose but other than that, almost identical. |
