8/16/2008 - DaveF wrote: 70 pointsThis used to be a good wine on release and one of my favorite Pinot's. It has turned into a cloudy, stinky mess. My thoughts are too much lees contact by the smell of things. Should have drank this last bottle years ago. The nice fruit is still showing, if you can find it within the stank. |

10/15/2004 - DaveF wrote: NRFirst bottle that I have tried of this wine from my cellar. Definately is still a baby with years of life left in it. Decanted for an hour, but really started opening up more by the end of the meal. Great 40 second finish. Tannins still very evident but very silky. Leather, black fruit and spice on the nose. No real sediment to speak of at this stage. Will wait several more years before trying again. Drank at Morton's with my parents for my birthday. |

4/8/2006 - DaveF wrote: NRThis wine has evolved very nicely in the cellar. Very nice fruit and some good weight. Everything is integrated well - drinking great right now. Opened at Pinot Provence, no decanting. Will drink my remaining bottles over the next year or two. |

2/27/2005 - DaveF wrote: NRI'm usually a fan of B&H wines, even their funky blends like this one. However, this wine was terrible - it was hot and the fruit was not there. I really hope this was a bad bottle. |

12/25/2007 - DaveF wrote: 92 pointsThis is a good bottle of Chard with nice acidity, good citrus notes and minerality. Still very lively. It is unfortunate, however, that this winery practices "Hostage Wine" tactics. That coupled with the higher prices of these wines will prevent me from buying in the future. |

11/12/2004 - DaveF wrote: 92 pointsHad to try a bottle on arrival of my shipment. This wine has a great mineral quality to it. Notes of peaches, and apples. Great coating-the-mouthfeel, with a good smathering of oak. The oak hides the copious amount of alcohol pretty well. You can drink this wine now, but it will probably be much nicer in a year's time. |

2002 The Hess Collection Mountain CuvéeMt. Veeder Red Blend more |
3/3/2005 - DaveF wrote: 90 pointsThis is a new release for the Hess Collection. A blend of Cabernet, Syrah, Merlot, Malbec, and Cab Franc. It's bold, big, and extracted like some of the new Napa producers are creating, a departure from Hess' normal style. Layers of licorice, red fruit & berries top off with a good dose of tannin on the mid pallete, with everything in balance. This is like a fun-to-drink Behrens & Hitchcock funky-blend offering, but the price is right. |
