3/18/2015 - StainedGlass wrote: 90 pointsFull bodied and earthy, with dark cherry and still youthful fruits yet a balanced acidity. Very approchable now, but surely will improve with some age. This tempranillo blend is a good value. |

11/11/2018 - StainedGlass wrote: 90 pointsStill going strong. Dark purple. Rich, extracted and modern in style but very approachable and well balanced. Black cherry, currant and fading vanilla. Cab and syrah give it some intensity and body. Would appeal to fans of California reds looking for a change. 75% Tempranillo, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah. |

11/16/2011 - StainedGlass wrote: 85 points$72 pop and pour at a retaurant. I wanted to like this wine, but it was very one dimenional and fruit forward. In excess of 14% alcohol, there is very little acidity or backbone, it was all new world with no layers or terrior. Not bad but it could be better if the ripeness were toned down. |

5/15/2017 - StainedGlass Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis is an excellent Barbaresco. Light ruby red. Modern in the the sense of having approachable black and red cherry fruit but classic Old World tannic structure, earthiness and leather. Lighter than its 14.5% abv would indicate. Great value. |

10/16/2017 - StainedGlass Likes this wine: 92 pointsSuch an excellent wine for the price and drinking well now. Quite a bit of sediment in this bottle. It's a shame more folks don't have it in their cellars. Prior tasting note still applies: |

1/17/2014 - StainedGlass wrote: 92 pointsWe had a Piedmont tasting with lots of Barolos, Barbarescos and Barbaras, and this wine was really singing. The tannins have softened and integrated but there is still a bit of acid and terrior; has a nice sweet note but is not too modern in style. A great value. I regret it was the last of my 4 bottles. |

6/23/2011 - StainedGlass wrote: 90 pointsMedium dark color and bodied, with earthiness, leather, cranberry, and dried cherry fruits. Still plenty of tannins, but you can now tell that this wine has some age on it. Very nice. |

8/28/2013 - StainedGlass wrote: 88 points- Brick color. It's balanced with a full body. Juicy texture with a medium finish - Better than I expected since i am not a huge Malbec fan, but this is a fruit forward blend. Cherry Dr. Pepper and a touch of Jolly Rancher candy tartness. Big and oaky, and starting to throw some sediment. |

10/4/2017 - StainedGlass wrote: 90 pointsLight ruby red. This is a light bodied, mineral driven PN. Light but juicy red berry fruits and with a nice balance of sweetness and acidity. Still young and should improve with time. |

8/21/2011 - StainedGlass wrote: 92 pointsDecanted 90 minutes. Dark, brooding and earthy, sweet black cherries, blackberries, currants, a hint of fig, leather, and wonderful eaRthiness. This has clearly aged, and aged nicely. I loved this rich, full bodied Ribera), and it is drinking perfectly now. (I was worried when I had some difficulty extracting the cork intact; there was no sign of leakage but if I had another bottle I would monitor it closely). |

1/31/2013 - StainedGlass wrote: 90 pointsDark purple. I like the 2007 better than the 2006. Plum fruit and blackberry fruit predominate with some pleasant earthiness and a dark chocolate note. Drinking well now. 14.9% abv. |

10/16/2011 - StainedGlass wrote: 87 pointsMedium dark purple; plumb is the dominant fruit, with prominent dusty tannins. A nice medium long finish, but not very complex or layered. May be put to better use in a blend. 14.4 alchohol. |

12/25/2017 - StainedGlass wrote: 91 pointsDark purple in the glass. Sweet blackberry and plum with subdued tannins. Quite a bit of fine sediment so careful pouring / decanting in in order. We were fine with pop and pour but your mileage may vary. |

10/9/2011 - StainedGlass wrote: 90 pointsPleasantly surprised. A balanced but definitely fruit-forward California Cabernet with moderate tannins; subtle smokiness, slightly herbal. No layers of complexity, but a medium long finish. Best served at cellar tempertature. Has plenty of life left. 14.3% alcohol. |

7/11/2012 - StainedGlass wrote: 87 points- Garnet color - Dark garnet color. Very one diminsional on day one; just full blown petit sirah with strong plum fruit notes but little structure, tannins or oak (I can't remember the last time, if ever, I thought a California wine had too little oak). It became more interesting on days 2 and 3. I think this would be put to better use as part of a Bordeaux style blend. |

12/26/2011 - StainedGlass wrote: 88 pointsMuch better than an earlier bottle, with plenty of dark cherry and plum fruit to offset the much more moderate oak. Some tea leaf and fresh tobacco leaf. Even better on days 2-3, which suggests to me that this wine will improve with more cellaring, and should not be a pop and pour. |

9/14/2020 - StainedGlass wrote: 87 pointsLike a youthful port that never develops the complexity of a good port. Still dark purple with no signs of oxidation, with faded but sam rum-soaked raisins, bing cherry, and fig profile. 20% abv. |

3/10/2012 - StainedGlass wrote: 89 pointsSo young. It tastes like a very young port (dark inky purple, no signs of oxidation, fruit forward rum-soaked raisins, bing cherries, and fresh figs), and I suspects it needs at least more 10 years in the bottle before any other port like or desert-wine qualtities emerge. So I'll try and hide my remaining two bottles. |

2/22/2013 - StainedGlass wrote: 94 pointsFantastic. This was tasted blind along with French Bordeaux of similar vintages, and several knowledgable guests were hard pressed to guess it was a New World wine, let alone from Chile. It definintely had the Bordeaux nose (iron) and a gravely minerality, but the dark fruits and cherry were noticably sweeter and approachable, particularly at first. Saddle leather, tobacco leaf, pepper, balanced tannins and a nice long finish make this one of the evening's favorites. Properly cellared it is still going strong, but it is in a great place to drink now. |

5/12/2022 - StainedGlass Likes this wine: 94 pointsThis bottle was absolutely delicious and in the zone. Clear medium red purple color. It has been cellared stored since release and showed full machurity without any significant bricking, no signs of pruniness or even port. It has layers of flavor with ripe red and black cherry fruit characteristic of the New World, but balanced and not over-extracted. This is a very good vintage. This bottle would still be good in 2026, but alas it was my last. YMMV. |

8/23/2019 - StainedGlass Likes this wine: 94 pointsDark red and purple color. Rich and full bodied but not overpowered or extracted compared to some Napa wines. Sweet but not cloying plum, cassis, fennel, and a pleasant earthiness. Velvety tannins pleasantly envelope your mouth. No significant bricking. Drinking well now but I think still getting better with age. Drink now -2028. |
