  • Corcho en pedazos, bastante alcohol pero rico…

  • Felix's birthday celebration: I thought the birthday boy liked bigger wines so brought this as an extra even though I knew I would hate it, but unfortunately everyone hated it as well (my bad!). Ambitiously made, pushing extraction, ripeness and oak use to such extremes that the wine turned out to be a monolithic, one-dimensional block of dense purple fruit. I hate wines with an artificially thick and velvet texture, or anything that resembles a chocolate note so this was awful.

  • Deep ruby robe with a garnet rim. Powerful fruit driven nose that bursts out or the glass. Intense notes of cassis, strawberry stew, cedar, cocoa powder and toasted vanilla. Additional flavors appear after a bit of time, eucalyptus, brown sugar, cola, Kirsh and baked pepper. Mouth starts strong, full body, medium alcohol. Loses its momentum mid palate maybe because of acidity being gone. Black currant, sweet tobacco and black cherry linger in a medium to long finish. Still going strong. I have 1 bottle left that I’ll open in a couple years

  • Bought at a Peruvian restaurant. Popped and poured as the final wine of the night, but I wish we would have ordered and decanted it much earlier. Still, it was great right out of the gate. It was my first time to try this famous wine, and I was not disappointed. Amazing flavors and great structure. I will definitely try this again with an aim toward a bit more air time before drinking. WOTN.

  • Drank at a Peruvian restaurant. Wow this was good. Very unlike anything else in the tasting. So well made, excellent balance of ripe fruit, oak, with tremendous structure to it. Will definitely be seeking out more of these. More upside to come for sure.
