3/31/2024 - lake.vino Likes this wine: 92 pointsThis is a strong example of Crozes at its best. And for me, it is pretty close to peak drinking. Nose blackberry, olives, a bit of animale, a bit of lavender floral notes, heavy black pepper. Palate incredibly balanced - still showing fruit, but lots of secondary development of cacao, pepper, herbal and olive notes. Plenty of acid, plenty of fruit, great mineral, tannins largely resolved and integrated, though still very present. Hits way above appelation and price point. Paired wonderfully with gigot de sept heures for the holiday. |

5/9/2021 - 2muchwine Likes this wine: NRQuite nice for a Crozes, this is dense and rhoney. Lots of non fruit things going on here, quite a mouthful but nothing I would consider not correct. Earth, pepper, I can dig figs as someone else said, a little camphor but not bad, overall a very nice bottle of northern rhone syrah that is of place yet not cornas or cote rotie. Nothing wrong with this!! |

5/7/2021 - lake.vino Likes this wine: 89 pointsJust what I'm looking for in an entry level Crozes. They didn't screw it up with excess oak or extraction; they knew they had young vines Syrah from decent terroir, and treated it accordingly. Olives, bacon fat, black pepper, barest hints of violet, black fruit. Decent acid and freshness, even after 8 years. Minerals, and still good dark fruit. a slight herbal bitterness on finish that is not entirely lovely, but also not offensive. Time to drink up - this isn't improving at this point. It has remarkable complexity and beauty for the price and intent. |

3/28/2021 - pinoteer Likes this wine: 91 pointsBest, and last, bottle. Vinturi'd into a glass and it was ready to go. Still, it improved with more time in the glass. Black berries, plums, olives, black pepper, bacon...this is just classic Syrah. Medium- tannins and medium- acidity. Nice finish. Prime drinking and can only go downhill from here. This bottle is just outstanding tonight. I could become a Northern Rhone fan based on this bottle alone. |

2/23/2021 - Jeff Leve wrote: 92 pointsLush, rich, sweet peppery red fruit, round tannins and a strong touch of oak all work well here. The wine is full-bodied with volume and length, but this is going to need time to allow everything to better integrate before. Give it at least 5-7 years in the cellar. |

1/2/2021 - pinoteer Likes this wine: 90 pointsProviding this note a few day after initially opening this bottle and drinking a glass. This one needed a day in the frig after opening. Otherwise, an overwhelming animal funk/ Brett aspect persisted the first night (even after several decanter hours). Now, it's much more like the first bottle that we drank earlier this year. A good mix of fruit and other Syrah-typical flavors (olives, black pepper, meatiness). |

4/13/2020 - pinoteer Likes this wine: 90 pointsThe low-alcohol aspect of this wine is greatly appreciated (13%). It's amazing how soft, inviting, and delicious a wine can be when the alcohol levels don't overwhelm everything else. Plum, black and red raspberries, black pepper, dirt, and meatiness come together nicely. So well mannered and well balanced. |

Plate is smooth, ripe and well balanced, still good acidity, mild tannins, deep and flavourful with dark blackberry and currant on the finish. Some hints of smoke and meat. Excellent! |
