Pours an opaque dark ruby robe nearly black in the middle with a beautiful orange-pink rim. Somewhat discrete nose, but swirling brings out dark cherry, plum, soaked orange peel, with touches of violet and varnish. Beautiful with that enticing oxidized note I love. Savory. Medium+ body with very good acidity. 2006 was a very good year in the Chianti zone, and this will easily make it to 20 years of age in really good shape. Was an excellent pairing with the experimental pizza as you'd imagine. 92-94 |

However, it doesn’t have the ‘wow’ factor which I think, the Montevertine or the Rocca die Montegrossi GS have. You can’t go wrong with this one, but use other wines to impress people. ;) |

Well balanced and complex. Will last for many years but I think it's best right now with the fresh fruit.2 bottles left but I will by some more to drink them young. |

The color is a bit light. The tannins are still present and even somewhat strong, but the fruit has faded somewhat. I think this one is on the downslope and should have been consumed within 8 years of vintage. It is similar to a closed off 2013 Barolo I recently tasted where the finish is tannins but without the fruit or earthiness one would expect. |
