4/3/2008 - PortFanatic wrote: 95 pointsVery dark brown color. Almost no rim. Huge wine! Very young. Almost tannic - unusal for such an old Madeira. Long complex finish.. many layers of coffee and bitter sweet chocolate. Awesome! 95 points. |

12/6/2013 - PortFanatic wrote: 91 pointsPop and pour. Dark ruby color. Interesting pomegranate nose. Still some obvious oak in the nose as well. Nice fruit entry. Quite structured though. Not a huge wine - it's well balance. Some nice tannins in the long finish. I like this. It's more European styled than Californian. Actually comes across as cooler climate. Could use a few years to resolve the tannins and pick up some complexity. Nice wine! |

12/13/2008 - PortFanatic wrote: 95 pointsDark color. Casis notes and some light oak in the nose. Big smooth entry. Fills the mouth. Impressions of black currents and a hint of mint. Some very fine tannins in the finish and solid acid gives the whole wine lift. A sipping wine to be sure. Distinct impression of cool climet Cabernet. I'm *shocked* to see the alcohol on this to be 15.7. I would have guessed 13.5. Wow. Superb Cabernet. Even my wife, who is highly critical of many red wines I open, is loving this. Exceptional! |

12/9/2011 - PortFanatic wrote: 95 pointsI've had this a couple of times since release - and was consistant for both bottles. Absolutely killer wine. Ripe, but balanced, but the finish - wow! Certainly a great Pride Reserve Cab. |

6/3/2012 - PortFanatic wrote: 89 pointsShockingly good. A few years ago I opened one of these and it was brutally tannic and never came around. I opened this as a "pop & dump". I was really shocked to see how this had matured! The tannins are finally resolving and a very nice wine is the result. Very good! |

1/2/2010 - PortFanatic wrote: 94 pointsAn impressive showing. Still very structured. Showing more of a cool climate aspect than hot and syrupy. Very well balanced. Still too young, but impressive for its potential. This would drink just fine with grilled meats. |

1/23/2009 - PortFanatic wrote: 95 pointsPopped and poured. The nose is still not very open. Dark color. Big fruit on the entry. Big mid-palate and very long finish. Really delicious. There is not as much oak as I recall in earlier years, and also less heat. In fact, I was struck by the impression that this was cool climate Cab. I was expecting this to be too young, but it was clearly not. It is quite young, but not too young. It is showing some very fine tannins in the finish, but it is *way* more drinkable than it was 6 months ago at pre-release tasting. Very impressive Cab. |

12/23/2016 - PortFanatic wrote: 95 pointsOn opening it seemed a bit rough, so decanted it for 3 hours. Now it has completely smoothed out and integrated. No alcohol showing. Very broad and deep on the palate. Intense black cherry and touches of coffee. One of the best of all Pride Reserve Cabs. Awesome! |

4/25/2018 - PortFanatic wrote: 93 pointsYoung and fruity, but very good tannin. If I had to complain I'd like a bit more acid - although it isn't acid deficient - but such is the vintage. Fabulous fruit Really balanced. Long finish. An amazing wine for just a basic Napa. |

8/20/2016 - PortFanatic wrote: 94 pointsImpressive! This needed a LOT of air in order for it to start opening up. Dumb at first with the nose just smelling of oak. Tannic palate and sour finish. Where's the fruit? Rough decanted. Swirled in the decanter a lot. Sat for 45 minutes in the decanter. Put back in the bottle again and then double decanted...again. Opened on the table 30 minutes later. NOW it's all there. Gorgeous. A big, rich wine, but surprisingly balanced for it's size. I would certainly buy again. 2 people found this helpful, do you? 1/14/2012 - PortFanatic wrote: 93 pointsSplash decanted and sat in the decanter for 3 hours. Very dark color. Inviting nose of black fruits. Maybe a bit oaky on the nose, but this is young and it's not out of balance at all. Very smooth, good density. Not too heavy in the mouth. Smooth medium length finish. Some tannins start to poke out after an hour. Excellent wine, and personally I think a year or two will make this more interesting, but you could certainly drink this now. |

10/8/2012 - PortFanatic wrote: 89 pointsThis was very good, but not mind blowing. Still some unresolved tannins, but I also felt that the fruit was fading just a bit. The alcohol was totally under control Was certainly better with food than on its own. |
