Decanted and tasted over 4+ hours. Nose while initially tight opens to show light herbs, bell pepper and red fruits. Taste lacks punch of acids up front, imparts a greenness and leaves your mouth coated with slightly bitter tannins. Granted we don't drink a lot of Cab Franc but this disappoints.

Very nice. Good fruit: slight smoke/tobacco notes with dark fruit. Paired well with BBQ

Soft bell pepper undertone, red fruits, hint of oak at this time. Spouse enjoyed this more than I did.

Small pour, twist and server. Nose shows soft cherry, blueberry, violets, herbs, hints of vanilla. Palate soft blue fruits, more flowers, dusty leaves. Fine integrated tannins. Enjoyed

Needed to open up for 30 minutes. Very herbal / green pepper on nose - almost to the point of thinking the bottle was corked but this blew off with 30 minutes of airtime. Cherry, blackberry and green tobacco on nose. Similar flavor profile on palate although the fruit on the palate was much bright than the nose suggested. Good structure - medium+ acidity, medium tannins and long finish. Very enjoyable and would buy again. 91-92 range. Acquired at Southern Season in Chapel Hill, NC.

Decanted 4 hours. Classic, straight forward, delicious reflection of cab franc. Enough dark fruit to balance out a solid foundation of tannins. The lack of big fruit distinguishes it from a cabernet sav. This should age well but enjoyable now. 90+

Popped and poured, consumed over 3 hours. Nose shows some nice herbal and graphite components. Taste is dark red fruits that are nicely restrained and some herbalness. Really nice balance between the restrained fruit and the acids. There are some sneaky firm tannins that carry from mid to a long finish that are more noticeable at hour three than at the beginning of the bottle being opened. Excellent.

Nose: mild aromatics. Cherries, orange, thyme, mushroom, stone minerality all flying above a note of oak. Palate: smooth, grainy and drying tannins, with loads of cherries and red plums. Oak is medium strength, acidity is nice but not domineering. Nice little pepper kick. Finish: the fruit is dominant, but the earthiness of the wine that is hidden on the palate emerges in the finish with classic bell peppers and celery seed. Overall a really nice wine sitting in a really nice place.

Full-bodied and rich with notes of pepper. It has a dry, slightly astringent mouthfeel that has hints of fruit and a finish that lingers with tastes of dark cherry.

Night one very after sitting in a glass for 45 minutes. Very aromatic: coffee, dark fruits, vanilla, campfire--wow lots going on. On the palate, dark brambly fruits, black tea bitterness, loamy wet earth. Nice and wet up front but drying tannins on the very long tail. Get a sense of the alcohol at a weird point way at the tail end. This needs a few years but I have no more. Will try to revisit tomorrow.

A bit rounder & more fruit-forward than a Loire Valley can franc, but still with a distinctive cab franc taste. Very food friendly.

Fragrant Cab Franc with pipe tobacco, dried cherry, sage and savory notes. Fruit and savor in equal measure in the mouth, some nice dark chocolate, too. Well made, free of funk or flaw, and a delight to drink. Has the tannin and fruit to go out another 3 or 4 years. Probably ideal now.

Opened bottle and let sit open for a couple of hours. Deep dark colors with purple hues around the edges. Nose is black raspberry, tobacco, and allspice. Taste dark, tart fruit with a bit of pomegranate undertones. There is a hint of herbalness or greeness in there as well. The wine is more on the dryer side with just a little noticeable alcohol that creeps up just before the finish. All in all a very well made wine.

Tasted at Flight Restaurant in Glenview IL. This is soft, gentle, welcoming--no hard edges. Olive finish. Not particularly complex which brings down the score but a very enjoyable wine.

Quite a green wine with fair body to it, layers of tart fruit and earth. Perhaps on the monolithic side, but a good QPR and paired well with grilled meat.

Med blackish ruby, touch of fading at rims, aromas of cedar, herbs, fig, currant, black earth, pinesap, b3+, a3+, t3+, sweet thick fruit, finishes w/a funky (reduced?) rubbery flavor, touch off? D2, pruny stewed tomato, rustic overbearing tannins, not good (3), pickled asparagus

First time having a counoise on its own; didn't really know what to expect. Color is a deep murky color with lighter edges. On the nose I get hints of strawberry up front with strong white pepper soon overtaking every other aroma. First taste thew me as to how much tannin there was. After it decanted an hour or so I'd characterize the wine as having pretty bright red fruits up front with good acidity. Mid palate is dominated by sweet tannins. Finish is LONG due to the mouth drying tannins. I don't get a lot of nuances but rather there are strong individual components. Highlight for me might be the nose; it is pretty intoxicating.

EDIT -- Day two
On day two the nose has mellowed a bit--white pepper still the the main aroma but do sense a bit of spice (anise perhaps) there as well. Taste wise it is much less sharp and more integrated. The tannins seem sweeter and the acids more pronounced up front. Probably the biggest change though is there is a bit of menthol on the finish and the tannins aren't as drying. Much more drinkable on day two but still kind of an oddball grape on its own.

Willamette Valley Century Club (100 wines in a day)!: Weird nose. Boozy. Fishy. Hot. Lots of fruit on the palate, but it's pleasing despite the size. It burns a bit on the finish (14.1% alcohol), and expresses excessive wood.
