1/9/2024 - 831900_ Likes this wine: NRQuiet, narrow nose of smoked meat. Dark fruit in the mouth. A lingering finish that transitions into mid-red fruit. That nice balance of not being hot, not being too fruity, not too light. Linear. |

12/5/2023 - viniferatu Likes this wine: NRwoodsy and spicy nose, blue and black fruits, black raspberry and roses... somewhat austere on the palate, classically proportioned Brunello, elegant for the region, but still a little tough overall... |

6/15/2023 - TexasBob Likes this wine: 94 pointsBrilliant light ruby crimson color. Smoked meats and raspberries on the delicious nose. Light-bodied yet weighty with the tannic structure to beautifully complement A-5 wagyu. Floral with rose and orchid notes. Light Raspberry and strawberry notes that unexpectedly transition to a more weighty ligonberry profile. Delicious. |

5/1/2023 - Willi Vinotti Likes this wine: 92 pointsA bit disappointed not to have taken the 2015, but this was excellent! True 2017 brunello, it came with an excellent balance and a lively acidity outweighing sometimes invading compote notes of Sangiovese. I found this in an excellent spot right now, perfectly approachable and probably on plateau for at least te years. Kudos, super well done! |

12/30/2022 - markcic Likes this wine: 92 pointsYoung but approachable with a decent decant. The nose is all fruit. The palate was dark cherry, red plums, a hint of cranberry, and leather. The finish was moderate to long. The last glasses were definitely the best. I will wait until next winter to try another bottle. |

8/20/2021 - Macdog Likes this wine: NRAt Sir Charles Napier from 1/2 bottle. Served a bit warm for my liking even for a Brunello (which pisses me off but not as much as me complaining pisses my wife off so i said nothing). Quite light and nicely balanced. A fair whack of tannin at the moment that I presume will integrate as this ages. I enjoyed it and will look to buy some for the cellar. Eric Guido's note is accurate (i would only add a herbaceous note and my point re tannin at the mo) and i would say so is his score of 94 which is pretty close to the current CT average of 93. 4 people found this helpful, do you? 1/17/2022 - MC wrote: NRPNP from restaurant list. Unfortunately served warm, which was disappointing, but in proper wine glasses. Maybe this has closed up, maybe a long decant would have helped, but honestly I was pretty disappointed in this wine given the producer and vintage. Light cherry fruit but generally thin (not elegant, thin) with a short finish that showed moderate tannin. A 2016 Produttori Barbaresco would have blown this away tonight. Glad to see the other notes here are better as maybe just an off bottle or off night for this wine. B+? |

1/28/2022 - dagij Likes this wine: 90 pointsWonderful garnet color with a clear red core. Classic nose dominated by red cherries, nuts, dry wood and a hint of cherry core bitterness. Medium to full bodied attack, delicious fruit up front dominated by red cherries, but almost with an almost burgundy feel in the vein of strawberries and raspberries. Polished tannins and beautifully balanced tannins add to a smooth and delicate mid part. The finish is fresh, almost citrusy, while the aftertaste is long, smooth, nicely balanced. This is just a perfect wine, but it is still strangely unexciting in a strange way. It somewhat lacks the "wow" feeling I get from other brunellos in this fantastic vintage, but I do have problems with pinpointing what it is. Am I inhibited by the name? I'll wait a year or so before drinking the next one. |

2/19/2022 - MargsVF Likes this wine: 94 pointsClear, medium intensity and ruby in colour. The nose is clean, pronounced intensity and primary aromas of red fruit and floral. Rose, violet, tea leaves, tomato leaf, pizza sauce herbs, oregano, red cherry, gravelly, soil, dirt. Secondary oak cigar box, vanilla. No tertiary. The wine is developing. The wine is dry, high acidity, high tannins, extra freshness for hot days cold nights from altitude of vineyard. Full body and high alcohol at 14%. Finish is medium +. All flavour characteristics present with pronounced intensity. The quality is outstanding, can drink now but potential for aging. |

3/30/2022 - Ernestas wrote: 90 pointsWanted to taste Gaja’s Brunello for quite some time, but I guess I should of waited for some time longer, at least with this vintage as from all 2016 I’ve tasted, this seems to posses the most harshly structured tannins and rough acidity. Aged 24 months in oak and 6 months in concrete. Medium intensity fragrant and fresh aroma of lavenders, violets, cherries, roses, leather and tobacco hints. Medium body, well structured, fragrant, firm and slightly astringent tannins, fresh acidity, long juicy finish. |
