3/10/2024 - Lord of the Bottles Likes this wine: 93 pointsKongsgaard immediately brings me 3,000 miles away from Napa to Meursault. Orchard fruit, green pineapple, some starfuit and gunflint reduction. Are we drinking a Coche Villages? 🤔. Doesn’t have the concentration of The Judge or a Grand Cru burg but a nice treat. 92-93 |

2/11/2024 - MAXIMUM SATISFACTION wrote: 93 pointsObviously younger but more lean than I recall other years being. Drank next to a 2021 PYCM Village and there were more similarities than differences. Viaually this was medium golden color with nice density. The fruit here is more sour than ripe at this stage. With several hours open additional yellow fruit and pineapple come out. This just needs time. |

2/4/2024 - ta75 Likes this wine: 94 pointsNo formal notes but I think the best vintage of this wine I've tried. As the night went on it developed Riesling aromas of hay, petrol, straw. Baked apples, apricots with excellently balanced acidity and oak not overbearing with a bit of air. I don't agree with the drinking window. I say open now and within a few years for the best results; and allow it to breathe in the glass. WOTN |

12/24/2023 - Islamabadbadbad Likes this wine: 94 pointsNose with citrus notes, lemon, green apple, apricot, with some savory notes of oak and vanilla. Wine was absolutely fantastic, one of my favorite Chardonnay, excellent balance. Palate has great medium plus acidity, dry, mild EtOH. Love the power and the mix of fruit with more savory tones. Drinking great right now, tempted to have my other bottles but I’m curious to see the development so will hold for 5-10 years and try again. 2 people found this helpful, do you? 11/23/2023 - Lord of the Bottles Likes this wine: 93 pointsDouble decanted an hour before Thanksgiving dinner. Somewhat coiled but not unapproachable. White flower and clover nose. Orchard fruit, underripe pineapple, kiwi, some vanilla in a pretty long and wavy finish. The richness and concentration hints at a top Meursault like Coche Dury but the kiwi and sea spray hints at Dauvissat Les Clos. Rich but not overdone and excellent balance. 93 from me and 94 from my wife. Not undrinkable now with air but I will hold my remaining bottles. Super Thanksgiving wine. |

There's something so compelling about the way this takes the style up to a 11. Heavily oaked (with lots of lactones), this was not as thickly textured as a 2015 a few years ago. Perhaps they've dialled back the style a bit as this isn't as overt as before? There's more acidity here than I would have expected. If served blind, I may have guessed something like 2018 Bâtard-Montrachet. Very much balanced despite its size, though we were all a bit suspicious of the 14.1% abv on the label (it feels like it should be higher). |

12/28/2023 - DWStyle Likes this wine: 97 pointsJF brought a bottle of the 2021 Judge Chardonnay to dinner (Anger SF) and after 1 hr decant over ice it blossomed : pineapple, Pear, slightly salted butter. Needs a few years but a good decant will help it now! 97+ |

Expected it to be fatty but here the masters of oak have kept it lean and polished, firm and focussed wine with proper mineral feel. Very pure too and an easy 92 for now but will improve we felt with age. |

2/13/2023 - huevosconvino Likes this wine: NROpened and chilled for an hour first, then double decanted and chilled for another three hours. I wanted to try some serious aeration this time, and it really helped; tasted from a Riedel Oregon Pinot Noir glass. Smooth, almost alkaline mouthfeel, with a bit of saline texture. Such an interesting wine: waxy yellow fruit, white tea, and a variety of herbal and floral aromas come and go as the wine warms up in the glass. A fun wine to sit and enjoy over a couple of hours. |

1/23/2023 - huevosconvino Likes this wine: 90 pointsDecanted and chilled for about 105 minutes first, tasted from a Riedel Oregon Pinot Noir glass. Dusty, chalky mouthfeel; flavors of bitter lemon, oro blanco grapefruit zest, and a through line of white/yellow fruit with a faint secondary note of jasmine. The aromas bear the same white tea essence, but with a white floral note. Aging nicely. |

10/8/2022 - huevosconvino Likes this wine: NROpened the bottle and let it rest for about an hour before tasting. Chilled to European cellar temperature. Steely, light aromas of white grape and white peach after some extended airtime. Off-dry flavors of straw and yellow stone fruit, with malolactic flavors lurking underneath. I'd keep this for another year yet. |

10/21/2022 - MJP Hou TX Likes this wine: NRMy first Kongsgaard The Judge. Generously shared by Cristal 2000. I’ve seen the label and I’ve heard the hype. I’ve been pretty meh on California Chardonnay until as of late. I consider myself more of a Chablis guy but I’ve had some offerings that are changing my mind. The Judge has a good amount of body and oak but somehow manages not to be overdone. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (1) |

10/24/2022 - Cristal2000 Likes this wine: 94 pointsHad this with MJP and wives in Houston. Very nice of MJP to host. I adore this wine, but was a bit more skeptical of the 2020 vintage. Long story short, it still manages to pull the concentration and acidity together and make a really terrific chard, but it's not quite up there with 18 or 19 from recent memory. Very pure, with great depth and a bit of a cutting acidic edge, it still needs time to integrate the oak and other elements, but should be singing in a few years. Definitely decant this white. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (11) |

11/16/2022 - huevosconvino Likes this wine: NROpened and left to chill for an hour before tasting from a Zalto-style Chardonnay glass. Obviously too early to drink this wine, but I really wanted to see where it was at right now. Spicy, subdued palate with more of a citrus profile right now. Give this 2-3 years at least. |
