2023 Bedrock Wine Co. Sauvignon Blanc

Sonoma Valley more

3/2/2024 - zscheiner wrote: NR

Tasted at pickup day. The acid of a Sancerre with fruit and aromatics that could only come from California. Great midpalate density followed by a piercing citrus that gets you ready for the next sip. If you don’t think you like California Sauvignon Blanc, this will change your mind.

Almond, kiwi, and delicious stone fruit. Perfect balance of expression and this wine grows even more pleasant at room temp. Another brilliant bottling from Bedrock.

Fresh berry and blood orange nose, with a hint of vanilla and spice. Bright acidity and good fruit on the palate. Easy to drink and delicious. A fun wine that reminds me of a young Fleurie.

A broad, soft rose that does manage to keep just enough acidity in place to avoid flabbiness. If you like them dry and acid driven, though, might not be your favorite. Solid when the sun is out!

Variety: 100% Pinot Noir | Method: Wholecluster Direct Press Into Neutral French Oak, Native Primary & Secondary Fermentation, Unfiltered. 10 Barrels Produced

Sitting at 800 feet of elevation in the heart of the Occidental Cordillera of the Russian River Valley appellation, we choose a direct pick and press method when producing our Rosé from Ruxton Vineyard. The first thing you notice is the sexy, pale peach color of this wine, evoking an assumption of greatness in the glass. This is a compelling effort that will challenge the senses. Opening with white peach, ripe plantains, bruised rose petals, and candied walnuts, this wine has a balanced temperament of verve and ripe fruit. A bright entry on the palate is followed by a medium-full mid-palate that is at once viscous yet delicate. This is delicious! Strawberry curd, mineral, and golden pear are complimented with refreshing, savory nuances of raspberries and cola, with a finish that is developed and elegant. Spectacular!

Always a winner. Great aromatic intensity. Nose of grapefruit, lime zest, and freshly cut grass. On the palate, it's vibrant and fun - bracing acidity with flavors of tart green apple, passionfruit, and a subtle herbaceous note. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, no oak. Nice mouthwatering finish. A classic Russian River Sauvignon Blanc.

Served by the glass at the United Polaris Club in Houston. Pineapple, honeysuckle, green apple, tea, minerality, and a hint of grassiness. Dry, somewhat tart palate, with fine, effervescent acidity.

The acid provides good overall structure. This is not bad, but not necessarily good.

California 2023; 8/13/2023-8/22/2023: It's delicious, but nothing crazy memorable or a home run. Same complain for a lot of the Grimm single hop expressions is they become one note and kind of miss some complexity and depth. Kinda of classic West Coast IPA

California 2023; 8/13/2023-8/22/2023: Still really solid, not as overly hoppy as I remember in years past. It also seems the competition has caught up to some degree because it comes across as just a good solid DIPA these days rather than something that just blows the doors off

wow, first (north hemisphere) 2023 wine i taste…

pale pink watermelon colour and light body. a bit of VA and strawberry-scented cotton candy and bubblegum in the nose, along with subtle floral and herbal notes. these carry straight into the mouth with acidic brightness that peels off the confectionary aspect of the nose and shows fresher berries. finishes a bit short.

simple and good Rosé that could probably use a few more months in bottle and climb into the "very good" range.

A blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Zinfandel, Mataro, and Counoise, and a treat to drink. Round and luscious, with notes of raspberry and strawberry leading the way. Hints of orange peel weave in, and medium acidity keeps it moving.

The color is faint peach. The nose is both watermelon and strawberry with some mint, particularly on the finish. We enjoyed this as part of Ridge’s virtual tasting. Light, crisp and quaffable once the weather warms up. Well made and would select it again. No detailed notes. 36% Grenache, 15% Mourvedre, 26% Zinfandel, 9% Counoise, 14% Cinsaut, 9% 12.8% alc. With shrimp spread. 03.29.24. Recommended.

Highly aromatic nose shows gooseberry, white flowers, kiwi, guava, lemongrass, wet stone. Palate is less tropical than expected, so not too far down the New Zealand path, nice mineral driven tones and the fruit does well also, dried citrus, a touch pithy, finishes crisp and clean.

Such acid, very mouth-puckering. Wow. The sort of wine that makes you sit up and take notice with how racy it is. Underripe strawberry that just makes your mouth water like ca-razy. And some pineapple in there, too? Mostly white, just barely pink color.
