6/13/2020 - eboracum Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis is definitely fuller and more structured than the 2004, of which I have picked up a few bottles recently at a friendly price. However there is a creamy patina here which is absent in the 2004 and, though superficially pleasing, detracts for me from the wine's elegance. Good easy drinking bourgeois claret, though. |

5/4/2020 - eboracum Likes this wine: 90 pointsWith a chicken, asparagus and creamy sauce pairing, this did not seem as small and discreet as I noted with beef and maître d'hôtel trimmings. Indeed it is just what I look for from a mature bourgeois claret. Unspectacular but well balanced with gracious fruit, some complexity and still firm finish. The effect is enhanced by a friendly price of c.€12. I hope the store still has some bottles. Good++. |

Black tea, forest floor with leaves, anise, limestone, moist clay, dry crushed rocks, dry stones, beautiful, mid intensity dark spice, dry tobacco, graphite, mixed dark berry cola, understated, well layered baking spices; clove, nutmeg, cinnamon & vanilla, dry herbs, mint with candied; dark, red, blue and purple florals. |

1/23/2020 - ChristoBretts Likes this wine: 89 pointsDecanted over 3 days. First day nose and palate dominated by oak. Tannins well integrated. Day 2 and 3 provided less oak and more cigar box and leather on the nose and palate. At the current $25, this is a good buy for what it is. |

10/18/2019 - mattym19 Likes this wine: 89 pointsNeeds a good decant but once it opens up the nose is very concentrated with ripe red berries, prunes and new leather. Palate is more red cherries, gravel and grape leaf. Strong acidity and tannins on the medium finish. Nice now but definitely still has some mellowing out to do. Pair with a nice braised short rib or stick it in the cellar for 5-10 years. |

9/1/2019 - Cschall Likes this wine: 92 pointsPnP... Lots of fresh cherry on the nose... Extremely tight on the first glass, but as it opening the fruit became part of the profile with lead pencil & leather undertones. Medium + finish. Definitely a value. |

3/4/2019 - Andrea&Ian Likes this wine: 88 pointsThe wine looks purpleish brown. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis), prune, plum, lead pencil and black olive. It tastes like lead pencil, black olive and plum. The body is medium/full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity. Paired with middle eastern mezze and roasted lamb as main protein. Held up very nicely with the bold falvours of the meal (curry, pom, garlic, cumin) |

1/29/2019 - eboracum Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis was a charming but quite a small left banker both on the nose, which was very discreet but fragrant and complex, and on the medium- bodied palate, which was quite soft and round but which showed delightful mature fruit and gentle but mouth-watering minerals and acidity. The problem was that in its discretion it had problems standing up to tasty Angus steak with maître d'hôtel butter. The more structured 2005 would have had no difficulty here. Good+ though. |

10/5/2018 - eboracum Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis has indeed gained greater refinement since my last bottle some years ago and shows a classical cru bourgeois profile of lively cassis and plum fruit with a dash of wet leather, graphite hints and fresh acidity. This is a good successor of 1996, 98 & 2001 but probably a bit fuller. Good+. |

2/15/2009 - hennlund wrote: NRMany years and vintages have passed since I last tasted this wine. Have great memories of '82! The nose was a typical, good Medoc, with darks fruits and wood. In the mouth it started out quite mellow, almost creamy and round, good acids and tannins, but "died" quite quickly to begin with. An hour or so in the decanter fixed that, the wine opened up and lasted longer in the mouth. Medium body. I suspect the best is yet to come for this vintage. |

11/25/2010 - TheWineMonkey Likes this wine: 88 pointsA medium garnet in colour, not much sign of bricking at the rim. On the nose not pronounced but classic Bordeaux pencil lead, and a hint of leather. On the palate blackcurrant, butter, pencil lead. Not intense, slightly herbaceous, even a hint of green. Lovely freshen, the body is medium, 12.5% alcohol but smooth and elegant. Tannins melting away, so drinking nicely. Not huge amounts of fruit left, but probably still has a few years left. Probably be described at old fashion Bordeaux but I like this wine, classic! |
