Dark purple in appearance. Aroma of dark fruits and leather. Flavours of black berry, leather, smoke-char and spicy oak, with a medium-long medicinal herbal aftertaste. The leather become increasing pronounced over time. It has medium-high tannin, low-medium acidity and is full bodied wine (ABV 14.5%). The wine is generally well integrated. Decanted for an hour and drank over 3 hours.

This is a gran reserva. I can’t say that there is anything wrong with it and I do not dislike it. At the same time, it lacked complexity and was missing the expressiveness of the terroir — I was hoping for more character from this wine. I had similar, if not better, Malbec at a lower price point without the gran reserva tag and hefty bottle.

Deep, bright purplish-red hue.
Aromas of blackberries, ripe fruit, and plum, complemented by a subtle earthy note on the back.
On the palate, blackberries and ripe fruit shine. A balanced wine with potent medium-plus tannins with a robust mouthfeel. It has a medium persistence.

Tasted blind againts a French Malbec.

Overall the wine it´s a great representation for Argentinian Malbec on this pricepoint.

Aos olhos: vermelho profundo, halos ainda vermelhos, lágrimas bastante viscosas
No nariz: baunilha, madeira, geleia de frutas vermelhas, notas herbáceas secundárias
Na boca: acidez média-alta, taninos muito equilibrados, baunilha, chocolate, caramelo, madeira, notas herbáceas de frescor,
Persistência alta!
Vinho pronto para consumo, mas ainda pode aguardar alguns anos!

Nase: einnehmendes, kräftiges Bouquet, reife Frucht, würzig, Vanille
Gaumen: vollmundig, kräftig, Säure und Gerbstoffe in schönem Einklang, keiner der beiden ist übertrieben im Vordergrund, ergänzen sich gut, langanhaltender Abgang
Fazit: Boomshakalaka, sag ich da nur. Ein explosiver Vertreter seiner Art, schon etwas Geschmacksbomber. Ich bin schon eher der Geniesser von feingliedrigen Weinen, aber ab und zu so ein Saukerl, der einem die Geschmacksknospen im Mund durcheinandershaken tut (ich habe Stolz auf meines Deutscheskenntnisser), dagegen habe ich nichts einzuwenden. Ich finde ihn gut gemacht, und er hat sicher ein paar Anhänger. Der "normale" Malbec der Bodega Septima ist ein bisschen smoother.

Nase: kräftig bis sehr kräftiges Bouquet, beerig, etwas eingekochtes Obst, "alkoholig"
Gaumen: entgegen dem Gerochenen gar nicht blockbustermässig, eher fein und zart, weiche, sehr gut eingebundene Gerbstoffe, eine leichte Säure gibt einen Hauch Frische ab, fast etwas unscheinbar dieses Kerlchen. Mittellanger Abgang, der nicht wirklich präsent bleibt. Mit etwas Zeit und Aklimatisierung wirkt er runder und auch etwas gehaltvoller, gefälliger.
Fazit: positiv ist, dass er kein Fruchtbomber ist, wie gewisse andere Übersee-Weine. Er zeigt sich anfangs eher zurückhaltend, und auch nach einiger Zeit überfällt bzw. ermüdet er den Gaumen nicht mit unnötiger Power. Ein angenehmer Wein, der gefällig ist und sich sehr gut einfach so trinkt, mir gefällt er.

Degustei de uma garrafa de um amigo. Fazendo o review mais de 30 dias depois, não me recordo detalhes sobre o aroma, mas na boca o vinho se mostrou muito equilibrado, excelente para degustar solo. Poderia ter ficado em decanter, foi servido muito frio, e por isso, melhorou muito já no final da garrafa. Acidez baixa, taninos macios, notas de barrica. O que me chamou atenção, é que na mesma noite fizemos a sequencia com o Septima Gran Reserva, em ambos os casos, estávamos armonizando com churrasco, suculenta maminha na churrasquira. O Lote Especial armonizou bem com o carne, mas preferiria ele sozinho, ou com queijos, ou mesmo uma massa. Acredito, que, pelo fato de ter percebido acidez baixa (equilibrada) apenas carne como prato principal, possa estar em um ponto acima. Já o Gran Reserva, que é nitidamente mais ácido, "pediu" sal e carna na degustação. Ou seja, Septima Lote Especial me surpreendeu, abriria novamente, mas dessa vez ele como solo, serviria em temperatura mais amena, não gelado, talvez com queijo/massas como molho de queijo, só não dei uma nota maior que 92, pois não me recordo do aroma, talvez por não ter ficado marcado.

Decanted for 2 hours to get it "up to date", but it'd better to wait 2 - 3 years to get it it up to the 'normal' standard. Great Malbec!

from vineyards in Lujan de cuyo at 1050 m with 20-yr old vines
on sandy loam soil;
in Vista FLores, Valle de Uco at 1050 m with 12-yr old vines
on stony soil; and
in La Consulta, Valle de Uco at 1100 m with 14 -yr old vines
on stony loam soil.
Manual harvest. Bunch selection. De-stemming.
4-day cold maceration. Fermentation separately by lot with
native yeast for some and selected yeast for others.
Malolactic in stainless steel tanks.
Aged 10 months in 2nd and 3rd-use American and French oak barrels.
Filtered and 2 months in bottle.
14.3% Abv.

Muy buen Malbec de Valle de Uco. Fruta muy presente, sobre todo la ciruela, y esas notas minerales tan típicas de esa zona.

Blend de 70% Petit Verdot 2020 y 30% Malbec 2019.

El Petit Verdot se cría durante 12 meses en barricas de roble del este europeo. El Malbec no tiene crianza.

La idea era armar un vino antagónico con uvas provenientes de diferentes zonas, añadas distintas y vinificaciones también diferentes.

El resultado es muy interesante. Mucha fruta, buena frescura y acidez. Un vino muy bebible y muy rico.

We really liked this. No formal notes but everyone enjoyed it. Ripe and smooth, didn’t need decanting. Nice balance with dry notes.

Bright aroma of dried redcurrant and plums, tea leaves, toasted cumin and white pepper on the nose. Not overly forward and alcoholic some very ripe Malbec can exhibit. Palate is spicy and a touch oily. Opaque structure and full-bodied, not revealing much nuances. Finish was one dimension but clean. A daily drinking Malbec.

Elegant, at first it was dull and flat but it got more complex with air. Blackberry, cherry, chocolate, leather, white pepper. It still feels a bit too raw, alcohol is in front, yet overall decent.

Plenty of warm heft on the medium/full palate; it has low/medium acidity and low dusty tannins not apparently deriving from very much oak. Does have a thick texture and an equally warm, if somewhat short finish. Competent if workaday stuff. Fair value for twenty bucks I guess, but not something I’d seek out again.

Elegante - y diferente - blend que requiere de un buen rato para desplegar su personalidad. De color rojo rubí profundo, en nariz presenta notas de fruta roja, nueces y pan tostado. En boca lo encuentro muy mineral, salino incluso. Se confirma la cereza, frambuesa, se me antoja un recuerdo a te, especias orientales y tabaco. Complejo y delicioso.
